I can't think of any major GWS player who has played in a premiership after leaving.
Jacob Townsend!

;)

Honestly, good luck to the lad - the JJ Liston Trophy & a premiership medal in 2017. NSW lad, honest toiler, but not a star player.

And Tom Boyd of course.

Hopefully this year provides a completely different slant to the conversation.

Oh yeah, forgot about Boyd but he's an outlier. None of the likes of Treloar, Shiel etc who were big news have won one.

Cmon let’s have ward straight back in and in the square for the first bounce!
You would think he would slot straight back in and Kelly on the wing especially while Taranto is out

Kelly would come in when Cogs rests in the forwards

IMO with the shorter quarters the centre bounce contingent should feature a rotation of Hopper, Cogs, Ward, Williams, MDB. Bring in Hately if they want another rotation.

It's a specialist skill nowadays and personally I think it's far from Josh's strength.

I actually think he is pretty good in the centre square.
I'd prefer him to Williams. That said probably plays on the wing
The kids are all great as well (Caldwell, Green and Hately)
Greene is a ripper in there as well, but he is more dangerous in the forward line.
We are well sorted for inside mids

I would be quite happy if the extra rotation(s) on the bench - it would make it easy to include Ward but still have a youngster in the team & ensure we could manage Cal's minutes (if required). Later, we could also trial guys like Ash & Caldwell, or give Hately a run.
Would suit us in the sense we have more depth than others.
Flip side, we often run teams off their feet, this would allow teams to stick with us for longer.

Beyond excited
Hopefully they come out like they did against the Dogs and make a statement, hungry for the ball and with finals tempo

Early wins are a must, especially at home !!

So many players fit and waiting, players selected will need to be turning it on from the 1st bounce

I can tell you i was blown away by the richmond faithful at the GF (before the game, i know its easy after) and saying how they were blown away with the giants support at the ground and how peacefully competitive we were as a club.

They were all saying they had a new respect for the club and that next year we were no longer the "plastics" we were a feared club. Meant a lot to me on the day.

I think the respect would have been even better if we didnt have the lowest GF score in AFL history.

Oh it still hurts i wont lie. Hurts so much
Anyone who doesn't respect the GWS culture knows nothing about footy.

Richmond built a flag side on Gold Coast refugees like Prestia, Lynch, Caddy etc.

You blokes have kept all your guns, and I can't think of any major GWS player who has played in a premiership after leaving.

I think the roos defenders are actually pretty decent. They can cover our three talls fairly well. Last year they held the talls well but our ball movement was nothing then compared to what it was in Rnd1 (i know that was a long time ago).

If we move the ball like we did then, quickly and cleanly, then I think we break them open and their tall defenders wont matter.

To be honest- we look a better, more mature side than last year. We should be believing we win each week.

Not a lot to worry about there.

Scotty Thompson has retired and Majak (our equal best tall defender) is out again. Really leaves Tarrant to take Cameron, Josh Walker to go with Himmelberg and god knows who for Finlayson.

Bobby Hill looking very slick & quite impressive in that clip.
That stood out me too.
Glad he mentioned how well Caldwell is going
I really am bullish on him
