From the APL website

Due to the increasing community concern around Coronavirus (Covid-19) we have decided to postpone all APL Major Events until further notice. These events include, but are not limited to, APLPT, Super Series & Monthly VIP Loyalty Events.

All season 1, 2020 qualifications into major events will be honoured and the events will be conducted when they are both safe and legal to do so.

Please keep an eye out for regular email communications and visit PlayAPL.com as well as the Australian Poker League Facebook page for more information.

Our regular nightly events will continue to run for the time being. We are actively supporting venue decisions to continue to operate games where they choose to in order to keep people in employment. TD’s and players have all been instructed to maintain a high standard of hygiene, including regular and thorough hand washing. Hand sanitiser should be available at your events, if its not please contact info@playapl.com.

Please make sure to not attend any nightly events if you are showing any CV symptoms and seek medical advice if required.

The APL Team wish you, your family and friends the best of health during these trying times. We look forward to returning to normal event scheduling soon and can’t wait to see you at these events.

Nothing about social distancing. I am not sure what other venues did but with 24 players we had 6 tables of 4

Now I'm all for trying to do the right thing but it sucks balls to play 4 handed with blinds at 1/200 - it just seemed that money was traded around the table all night long. Blinds came around quickly and when they got to 2/4 3/6 etc it just became a survival of the chippest

10 players left and finally 2 tables - but not hand for hand as it was down to the final 6 then 2 x tables of 3 - hand for hand - until 5 were left and that was ''final table''

Am I sore? Yep because I finished 10th shoving a small blind 10/20k - 10/Q - it just seemed disjointed.

The only positive I found was an opportunity to practice 4/5 handed play. But even that was limited a bit

What happened at other venues and organisations?

My local APL venue played their weekly games this past week, but have now put them on hold. Their last game was enough for someone to take the season lead off of me.

I see the Skycity poker zone has now closed after ridiculously trying to run 5-max cash games to facilitate social distancing lol.

any chance the government changes the laws and allows online poker again? could be a revenue stream!
Tweet your State Leader and Opposition Leader asking for it to be legislated

All APL is on hold given the ban on pubs and clubs

Love to know the science behind screens and masks in a game where players are constantly sharing cards and chips. It's as ludicrous as banning pre-match handshakes in soccer games.

Also short-handed live poker doesn't work for people used to full ring games. Unless there's a big waitlist tables are going to break all the time. Only needs one person to bust, another in the bathroom and the remaining players getting up cos they don't want to play 4-handed.

APL SA have some venues open , some venues still on hold

6 max - final 6 table - TD dealer on final table

APL look to have taken an NPL venue in Brighton - 2 games Friday night - not sure if NPL are still running or down to 3 venues

One TD threatened anyone who coughed would be ejected  :drunk:

Thanks for the heads up about Brighton Metro. I might have to play there until the Watermark restarts their Thursday game - they restarted Wed, but not Thurs for some reason.

6-max makes no sense to me, the difference between that and 8 would be negligible.

I think just copying what other casinos have done with their policy. Most seem to be moving towards 6 handed play.

South Adelaide have opened a Friday night game - but for only $5 - it might pay to check out Brighton as well. Nice payout last week for top 3 where SA is paying 1st only

I'm going to try Finsbury on Thursday. Not keen on the cheaper games with a bigger chunk of the money going to State Champs prize pool; who knows when they'll be able to run that.

Played Brighton Friday night - paid top 6 as they had 56 players

I managed a 3rd and a chop so increased my cashout to over $130 while South Adelaide argued over adding a $50 to the 2 meal vouchers they handed out. With 14 players and the issue over cash v vouchers I can see SA letting it go

Did you play both games on Friday? Did the early one max out for player capacity? I don't want to get there and have to be an alternate.

I liked the Finsbury structure with 15 minute levels instead of 12, but it's not my favourite venue nor clientele. Of the players I recognized there were none who I really enjoy playing with.
