This post hasn't aged well. ;)

Well said!
As important as this morning's announcement is to show that there's a move in the right direction from a health perspective, we should await advice from the competitions who haven't decided to cancel their seasons to work out what form, if any, the remaining leagues choose to operate.

I stress, again, this should be an "opt in" scenario where clubs/teams like Ormond and Old Ivanhoe can put their hand up to field X number of teams, but if other clubs such as Melbourne/Monash/LaTrobe Uni/Swinburne can't get critical mass to field teams, they shouldn't be forced into doing so. It's more important for each current VAFA club to be viable in 2021 than to run 2020 as close to a proper season as possible.

Local junior footy is the easiest to leap that hurdle IMHO. VAFA the next easiest and frankly the Essendon FL is running as an amateur league in 2020 anyhow, so they're probably in the frame to run most teams.

It's a good step, but there's no guarantee a fully functional 9 round season of 7 divisions will inevitably unfold from here.

You need to read the initial politically loaded post jointly with the posters response to get my drift, Hedge.

As to any VAFA footy this year, I have been one of the doubters. I've become a convert - almost anyway.

Footy will be played. Biggest hurdle was approval of contact sport. Crowd restriction will be gone by July 31

FWIW super news, so let’s get to the finer details. How will they decide who gets the 5 home games? Will promotion/relegation still go ahead? 1up 1 down? Anything wrong with a top6 finals series and bottom 4 playing off for relegation? Can play the games at the home club and get a few more games in for all. GF at neutral. Should points allocated increase for certain leagues regardless of connection? e.g. a certain De La boy from Balwyn!

As ive posted before , all clubs have responded to a VAFA survey .

Not too exercised about the admin stuff to be candid. That will be sorted. No doubt not to the liking of all. It's getting all the Covid protocols to a stage where they are easily doable. Not sure how many clubs will be able to achieve that.

This was never guaranteed. And while most are anxious for the season to start, it is highly likely that for a combination of reasons some clubs will choose not to participate.

Despite the strong negative sentiment from some, many club people have always thought a VAFA season of some type was viable. Seems we are now inching closer to that occurring.

I checked today with a number of clubs and EFNL admin. Simply not true.

Bedford isn’t completely wrong, the EFNL is asking clubs who would be interested in playing games later this year, but just not an official season. There are plenty of clubs looking to play especially at 19s and Women’s level and they are seeing what senior clubs also want to play.

Thank you , I should have explained it better . I know a couple of Coaches there that are spewing , as they went too early.

VFL starting 7 round season on August 1
Excellent news.

Gives those players not already on an AFL list a genuine chance to stake their claims for the 2020 draft.

Only 4 games per week, 176 total players (not getting paid), zero/low number crowds, all 4 venues ready to be thoroughly cleaned within 4 hours of the first person arriving.

Makes sense.

No new news to be honest.

All it does is repeat what we already know and says the VAFA Board will meet next week to.....

“determine whether a season will proceed and further advice specifically related to VAFA RTP will follow“

Question which previously might have been answered.

Do players joining an Old Boys club join as a one point player if they went to the school. Eg Marcelin?

Have to have gone to the school for 3 years to qualify as one point player. Qualification changed from 2 years to 3 this season.
