Review Dogs 57 def Giants 33. There’s bite in the old dog.

Libba is the story of the night. Take him out of the side and it's a line ball game. He brings attitude which infects and lifts the whole team. He has mongrel in the contest (AND ticker). What often gets overlooked is that he has a heck of a lot of footy IQ, great vision and a few handy skills to go with it. BoG for mine.

A week or two back I said we had two, maybe three elite players. Bont, Naughton and maybe Bailey Smith. Well I'm updating that tonight. We have a definite three. Keep this up and Smith is a chance for AA. When Knightmare said in late 2018 that Smith was the best midfielder in the draft (which included eventual #1 pick Sam Walsh) I was sceptical. I'm starting to think it was the right call. He has that unmistakable quality of always seeming to have time with the ball. You can see him looking around as he takes his first steps with it. He seldom wastes it (94.1 DE% tonight). Oh and he also has a pretty handy rig, eh? As Carey said, if you're built like that you go topless all the time.

Two other players I want to mention who stood up after copping some heat in recent days. Caleb Daniel and Tim English. Both important contributors tonight. English showed he has some ticker and a fair amount of footy smarts. A shame his kicking for goal has let him down with three easy shots in the last two games. I'll have a bit more to say about English later.

How great was Smith's pass to Naughton. We need more of that kind of delivery inside 50. He's a star.

Watch Brucey at the start of this video. Went in seeing red. That's what I ******* love about this guy

Just rewatched this. Daniel Lloyd took multiple swings at Bailey Smith's head, and connected with at least one. He was getting dropped regardless, but that's a suspension

I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but Smith has it all. Speed, power, vision...the ability to create his own time with ball in hand. Maybe most importantly for this Bulldogs side, he also has a bit of campaigner in him.

Pick 7 or whatever...the guy is a steal.

On Libba, completely concur.

But just wondering why there was this collective lament just recently that his knee was shot and he was on the scrap heap. His courage, vision, hands and feet looked pretty good to me tonight.

Think Dale is gone but have a feeling Lloyd gets one more game to prove himself (credits from last season).

Would love to see Weightman in. Think he adds a different look to the forward line. Dickson or Cavarra to replace Lloyd (if he can't turn it around).

Suckling looks pretty shot. Lachie Young in.

Bont for Captain Coach. Libba for President.

I think I saw some cottage cheese spill out of Whitfield's head that was nice.
If someone could have punched Haynes in the neck, that'd have been a cherry on top.

There’s at least 10 players at that “club” - probably more - that absolutely, desperately need to be belted in the style of Steve Wallis on Brett Heady (the main one wasn’t playing tonight, and we all know who that is)

It 100% wasn’t Crozier. Crozier laid a great tackle, a bit of pinball and Williams kicked across to Keath. Keath kicked it straight to Perryman.
Yes, you are right. I watched a replay. It was Keath.

The call was poor and the vision fleeting. McAvaney was waxing complimentary about Crozier at the time the kick came out so I had bookmarked it as a Crozier kick but in the replay you can see Crozier forward of the ball.

I retract. I should have known Crozier wouldn't do a kick like that!

Smith will become what Cooney couldn't consistently be. I can see him becoming that goalkicking midfielder with breakaway pace.

This kind of form as a second year player spells Brownlow on the horizon.

I made a cheap crack during the game about Haynes but honestly he's close to the player I admire most outside the Dogs. It seems so incongruous that he plays for the Giants.

He's a very fair player with incredibly good judgement of the ball in the air. Very composed and a decent kick. I'd love him at the Dogs even though we have 2-3 specialist intercept defenders already. He'd walk into any side in the AFL.

Once again it’s Shaw starting it up.

As always it’ll be ‘I’ve got ADHD, I get fired up and play on the edge’. Bull****. Nothing but a hotheaded lunatic. Always the first one to come in and want to start a blue. Everything I hate about that soulless p***ant joint.

Hurry up and retire. In fact, don’t, we need the LOLs at your epic meltdowns.

Not sure Suckers has 3 games in 12 days in his legs, same with Lloyd. Think both will be looked at but experience might keep them in the team? Also big Brucey played one of the best 6 possession games I’ve seen in a long time, don’t underestimate the impact his physicality had on the game and team..

Not anti Haynes, though the stunt tonight puts him in flog territory. More for the lols. Imagine the bleating if he got karate chopped right in the throat.

He's like Sicily without the ability

Great night but the tv coverage tonight was well annoying.

Not showing the live play and instead injured players on the bench or the rooms.

Then we have BT getting Vandermeer and the GWS debutant confused. Just shocking.
Brutal, as always. At least they ditched that ‘Fox Air’ camera that panned around the field last week.

Commentator-wise...I know there was another ‘Daniels’ playing but Caleb didn’t get his name called right once. Pretty slack.

The Haynes coin toss gave me major Crows power stance vibes. What a laugh.
Cameron would have put him up to it.

I bet he had a lump in his throat as he walked to the centre circle ...
