Would have made sense, in both cases, if he used "skilled" instead of speed.

Not exactly a speed merchant. Evasive, skilled, clever, with a great side step but only really a speedster if compared to Cunnington.
Also not sure I'd describe a bloke who stands at 182cm as dimunitive (extremely or unusually small). Decent enough article though, spelt his name correctly and all. Good to see a bit of press talking up our players in terms of skill and class.

Jy's not overly blessed with leg speed but the game definitely seems to slow down for him when he has ball in hand. Very Pendlebury-like.
Sideways movement/step and evasiveness are more effective than pure speed for a mid in the modern era - Jy has that in spades.

Look at Ats - great straight line speed but no step - hence he hasn't been able to develop a career as a mid - good hbf - but not a mid.

Sam Newman. The dude has been irrelevant for about 15 years, with the only time his name being brought up during that period was for doing or saying somthing off colour. And this was long before 'woke' and 'cancel culture' became a thing.

His decline in relevance was reflected in the performance of the footy show which thankfully has departed our screens for good. That sh*t, like Newman's shtick, peaked in the late 90's.

This is not victory for cancel culture or wokeness. Cancel culture takes one thing a person has said or done, from years ago potentially, and hangs them on it. Newman has been circling the drain for years and finally put his foot in his self-important gob one too many times.

There are plenty of things to rail against when it comes to the unstable left. Sam Newman being an out of touch campaigner is not one of them.
Great post. It's a victory against crap telly. He never has anything interesting to say. The only way he can generate any interest is to say controversial things and then tail against the response.
