The AFL is full of inequities in a normal year. There are just more than usual in 2020.

Everyone can form their own judgement as to the value of this year's competition.
Yeah pretty much this. Reckon the chances of another player catching it (or at least testing positive) throughout the year are pretty high, will be interesting to see the reaction then.

Why does Carlton get an advantage of playing a weaker team?
Not sure it will be an advantage you would want given there will be risk of Essendon players with COVID... though will be surprised if this game goes ahead.

Just luck that Carlton potentially get an undermanned Essendon, just like it was luck the Bulldogs got to face GWS missing Kelly, Greene and Whitfield (for 3/4).

Two of the experts behind Australia’s COVID-19 strategy say Victoria should consider a hard lockdown of up to eight weeks or brace for continual outbreaks and last-minute changes to restrictions until a vaccine is created.

We had a hard lockdown for longer and are getting 'outbreaks' so the logic is flawed. We need to get smarter, not tougher.

No disagreements there with remaining shut until under control as sensible.

But when you are up & running, are you really going to open up all boarders to all juridictions at once, including Victoria who don't have COVID under control or wait til all have it under control... rather than opening up to jurisdictions with COVID under control like SA have.

That's a bit like Morrison making the decision to keep the boarders shut until the whole world has COVID under control... rather than the sensible option to start opening up to other countries like new Zealand who have it under control.

You say boarder one more time, and you'll be nominated for a thread ban

Good result but how on Earth were the players he was filmed tackling in training not deemed to be in close proximity?
Outdoors is considered low risk i think. The close proximity has to be for 15 mins so (with me being no where close to an expert on this) i would guess tackling someone for a second or two is ok if you then separate and/or no fluid is exchanged (i.e they dont bleed on you or share drink bottle etc...)

I wonder how long an epidemiologist would laugh for after reading this?

Well they reviewed all footage of the session & iso'ed one other player so there's that.
It's complete guesswork and the AFL are praying for a miracle and just hoping that no other player test positive, and that McKenna wasn't infectious due to his low reading. McKenna's sweat would have been transferred to the ball all session and then onto all of the other players who then potentially touch their faces.
