It was unbelievable. It's almost as if the NRL wasn't in the position where they had no choice but recklessly charge ahead lest they completely run out of money and go out of existence.

At least we saw a hint of acknowledgement today of the NRL's desperation, in that it has meant that they've been forced to hand back a lot of money to the broadcasters.

Yeah this isn't getting much attention. Headlines weeks ago were about how super awesome the TV rights deal would be. Now the actual deal is crap compared to the prior one everything's gone quieter.

I used to love watching this show. Was my favourite for years even thought it always had a lefty feel.

I don't know what's happened but it's been ruined. Dominated by SJWs.

I wish they would focus on the sport, not the social issues.

Does the same go for Eddie Betts?

I tend to agree. Who was that annoying Irish journo talking about Connor McKenna like he was the second coming of Christ?

Actully I 100% agree with Betts comments (one of my favourite non north players) and happy for them to talk about it. But I think they discussed less about the games and more of the social issues including the "bullying" of the Bombers player who clearly stuffed up.

I also found the majority of show talking about the women's world cup a little too much. In the past there was 5 or so mins on many different sports but it seems they are now focussed on minor sports. If that's the way they want to go, that's fine, but I won't be watching.

LOL yep. Was thinking the same. This guy has stuffed up and deserves to take responsibility for his actions. She is worried about his mental health. What about thE mental health of his team mates and other players who he has let down.

It's just excruciating viewing now.

Used to be great. Proper debate and a focus on the issues.

Roy Masters, Gideon Haigh and even Wilson was good on it. Lisa Alexander was always good value as was John Stanley.

Now we get Waleed (why?), the Irish journo and Richard Hinds.

Congratulations for Catherine Murphy calling out the distasteful media coverage of the McKenna situation - It's interesting that there have hundreds of professional athletes throughout the world test positive and their media has been supportive of the athlete - Australian media needs to grow up.

To be fair, there were reports he had gone to an open for inspection and visit friends and broken other AFL restrictions (let alone society restrictions - stay at home and all that, which so many seem to have forgotten) so he’s still stuffed up.

David Davutovic loves an overreach. You'd think the FIFA Women's World Cup will equal the impact and interest of the Sydney Olympics, rather than just being a fun few weeks with some legacy for women's training and support facilities.

The partiality and blinkered attitude of the single sports specialists on Offsiders is laughable.

That has nothing to do with his treatment in the media, especially from ex-players - AFL restrictions are two steps above society restrictions - You seem to be blissfully unaware like many in society - I will re-emphasise that athletes in other countries who test positive don't suffer the media bullshit that Mckenna received.

To be honest, I don’t give a toss the way athletes in other parts of the world are treated by the media. In other parts of the world COVID is rampant and completely out of control.

McKenna did the wrong thing. Simple. He broke the restrictions twice. He was lucky the second test came back negative. For all we know he could’ve have been at the tail end of the virus on the first positive.

Why are the AFL restrictions ‘two steps’ above? Because they know one positive test and the comp shuts down.

As far as I’m concerned if you’re a Djokovic or someone who blatantly breaks the rules and catches the virus you deserve to get slammed.

You have no idea - McKenna was charged with one breach - Djokovic didn't break any rules - He organised a tennis tournament/s which had Government approval - And dancing in a disco was a legal activity in that country/city like it is currently in Western Australia - McKenna's positive test never shut down the competition - How many non-facts can you make in one short post.
