NJB,

Most people know my thoughts, and I only speak for myself.

From my observations we have only two players who indicated that they are not keen to train under current environment. They have specific logical reasons.

Everyone else is on.

We will accept the decision, but lets do our best to play.

VAFA are charging 25% of fees regardless. Not a real money grab.

Max "off to training, socially distancing of course" Leader

Yeah I will amend what I said - players do want to play footy but they know that the likelihood is that its not going to happen.

Id be very interested to see the protocols if a player tests positive and a team potentially is compromised, what a player/club is to do going forward.

You'll do the same thing if/when someone tests positive in 2021 & 2022. If we don't learn to deal with it now & evolve, community sports as we know them are finished, period. There is no better time to see if it can be done than in a shortened season. If health was an issue, junior football would be canned. There are a sh*t load more grandparents at junior games than VAFA games.
So what happens to competition of 3 teams have to isolate for 14 days?

VAFA are charging 30% + by keeping the sign on fee at the start of the season. Pure greed off the clubs.

And if the vafa become insolvent, what then? I’m happy to fork out the 25% levy plus application fees to keep the vafa going. We all play our part here.
I also think they should keep the $11 all players paid when they registered. If the player plays in 2021, they have the fee waived.
I’d also like to see the vafa offer something back, like a promise of no increases in affiliation fees for 6 years or something like that.

not even AFL vic know.
RTP literally says its up to the individual comps as to what they do but DHHS will definitely be involved.
it would also probably be 4 sides
Week 1 - Team A plays team B
Week 2 - Team A plays team C and Team B plays team D
On the Monday player from team A tests +ve. All of team A, B & C have likely had direct contact with an infectious person
there is then the possibility that someone on team B was infected which now puts all of team D under a cloud as to whether they’ve had direct contact with the virus or not

No, it’s only close contacts from 24 hrs before they showed symptoms. That’s when someone is believed to be contagious.

You’d hope someone wouldn’t be sick fir over a week and keep playing footy

they don’t have to be symptomatic.
if there’s continual routine testing you’ll get +ves out of people who haven’t necessarily been sick

Just read a Bunch of ovens and murray players are going to play up in NSW. If the VAFA were to shut up shop July 6 would the players be able to lodge clearances or is the June 30 clearance deadline upheld? Obviously disregarding the fact that people from Melbourne would be travelling interstate and Gladys would be a very mad lady

They are testing just about everyone in the bad areas . Seems like 20 to 30 year old selfish prix are behind a bit of this . Of course it was going to show more cases with so many extra tested.
In LA on Saturday they had 2,369 new cases and 23 poor people passing away, we are not that bad.
sh*t footy league put out a fixture today.
It wasn't a fixture at all, rather a timeline of dates from round 1 to finals for each division.

More bullying by the SFNL giving false hope before everyone pulls out on Friday

Has anyone got any idea of other comps are charging for a non season?

I'm led to believe that the financial season of the VAFA is Nov 01st - October 31st and not the actual playing season.........IF this is correct, then my understanding would be that some sort of fees would be a reasonable request for services already provided/work done since November 2019. Not 100% sure but maybe someone could clarify?

In any case, my experience has been they have been doing a pretty good job under the circumstances up until this point in time. Some very big decisions to be made over the coming weeks and how they handle things with the empathy and understanding required for ALL clubs in the competition.

Chump.

Do the clearances/permits for the 2020 season close today?

If so, there would not be too much of an influx of boom recruits from other leagues if we were to have a season?

Clearances close midnight tonight. Permits are available until July 31st.

confirmed starters sfnl div 1. Chelt dingley port melbourne St. Paul’s st kilda city Mordi.
Tell 'em they're dreamin'. No senior footy this year.

VAFA cant run on smell of an oily rag. We expect the best standards so need to pay for it. The VAFA have overheads, like any business, so Clubs are paying reduced fees to keep VAFA alive. It's going to be tough for Clubs also so that's why fundraisers are back in vogue at Clubland.

How does the VAFA demand the best standards... they don't even have allocated umpires for the majority of their games

Not to mention the media production/social media which is so far behind other leagues in professionalism it's not funny. Those other leagues are not as myopic or sycophantic either.

4 divisions of reserves get no umpires, 7 seniors, 3 reserves, all 19s and women’s get umpires

If you mean full panels, well you must be including women’s, reserves, 19s to claim majority don’t and you’ll find that’s the same in majority of competitions. What leagues provide full panels in reserves, 19s or Women’s?

I'm including boundary and goal which aren't included in the majority seniors games in VAFA. The NFNL get all umpires allocated in all grades boys and girls for example.

We could just pray for rain. We all know that most players find a reason for social distancing from training when that happens :D

Which is a lie, 4/7 is a majority and there is usually at least 4 grades worth of goal and boundary umpires each week in senior footy.

The NFNL has only 3 divisions, the VAFA cover that many every week with full panels and still have 60 goal and 60 boundary umpires to appoint after that!
