As an ex binge drinker, who was capable of blacking out but still functioning whilst blacked out, there is nothing odd in Steele's account. I was thinking it could have been much worse. Indeed if it had been me, it would have been. The sins and troubles I have caused under the bewitchment of alcohol are long.

I am more perplexed by Ed's sober responses.

I blame MMM.... anyone who goes near that radio station ends up dumber in 15 minutes. I have always highly rated Ed, but he has an ability to forget himself.

I dont understand how saying someone got so shizzfuzzed that they couldnt tell the difference between the bathroom and the outside world is a justification for where he ended up. The breaches themselves are a massive concern given that the AFL is desperately trying to keep a season going during a global disaster that has taken nearly half a million lives. The amount of people in the AFL that have lost their livelihoods would be right to feel hard done by every time a someone who is in that industry and is still being paid, does something that in any way jeopardizes the organizations ability to thrive and recover. All that aside, am I being naive to ask what the hell a professional athlete and leader of their team is doing getting that messed up during the season? I'm genuinely not trying to put the boot in, believe me, my club has given me many "oh what the damn hell!?" moments in its short life. But seriously, what the damn hell?
As for Eddie, his response is disappointing but in no way surprising

He didn't bash a cleaner or crash his car so did he really do anything wrong? /s

In the eyes of the law, absolutely not.

In the eyes of a billion dollar industry trying to get state governments to give exemptions to AFL teams coming into their states to keep the season going? Oh you bet your brass booties he did.

I don’t think anyone really wants to hang Steele out to dry over this. These blokes are human and can make poor choices from time to time, especially around alcohol.

The main theme of this thread has been around Collingwood, and in particular Eddie’s, pathetic attempts to downplay the situation. To use a phrase from Ross the Boss you can support the person and challenge the behaviour. There’s no logical justification for publicly stating how proud of Steele he is. It beggars belief and sends a terrible message during an emerging health crisis.

Which might explain why I was sarcastically downplaying the situation.

Eddie's also proud of his Broady mates for showing everyone what can happen when people disobey the COVID rules.

So figjam says steele hasnt been on the piss that much lately and therefore couldnt handle it,mcguire says steele was on whisky and doesnt normally drink that.
Have those two taken most of the week to come up with those excuses ?
You couldnt make this up.

Hahahaha weakest excuse i've heard...and in no way does it make a difference, he's still at fault for his decisions/actions.

And are they really trying to say that the blame lies in his bodies inability to process the alcohol because it's stronger than he's used to...and that's why he got so shitfaced he couldn't tell the difference between a toilet door and front door, and a bathroom with the street?

Not only that but remember he was 'allegedly' asleep on the couch, so he was that shitfaced when he 'woke up'.
