It was a dark and stormy night (wow what a great start to a story, bet that has never been used before).
Anyway, it was a dark and stormy night at Castle Jolimont, and deep in the bowels of the ancient and soon never to be used again, Mad, Confused and Gormless Stadium OR, as the oldies used to call it, The Melbourne Cricket Ground we find Dr Mclachlanstein pondering his new and exciting discovery. There he was surrounded by all his sucky little henchmen with the chance to set the tone for the remainder of the century and breathe life back into our game. Amid all the test tubes and other stuff, as the boilers in the basement were wheezing and spewing forth hot air, well I thought it was the boilers! “Eureka” he cried, “I have developed the ultimate, a fixture that no-one can understand it will be the saviour of our League”. Igor Hocking his faithful assistant explained to his Master that that is not a new concept, we have had one for years.
“Ohhh” said the good Doctor, “very well but listen Igor we have a delegation here from the bloody demons, bitching and complaining again, why don’t you take them for a picnic down by the lake, if you know what I mean” !!
Whilst sitting by the lake with the Demons hierarchy Igor, having nothing better to do decided to keep Goody and the crew occupied by taking turns throwing petals into the lake, after all the petals have been thrown Igor looks around for something else to throw in, and with a malevolent gaze decides that the aforesaid demons are serving no good purpose and then throws them into the lake. Clearly this was the only option at the time given that there were no buses available for them to be thrown under.
After returning to the basement Doctor Maclachlanstein asks where the Demons are, Igor tells him what has transpired. “Ohhh” says the Doctor, “that doesn’t matter they won’t be missed. Anyway, we have arranged for them to play the Tigers this week, we need the Toiges to be at the top of their game and back in the finals race, to attract the crowds back.” Igor gazes at him and simply shakes his head.
