Considering he didn’t play half back Most of the night I’m not sure it is

Our back six was Wood Keath Cordy Crozier Williams JJ With Caleb playing as the plus one which he is no doubt very good at if teams allow that to happen. The good teams don’t

Caleb did push back but he also play far further up at times tonight also.

His heat map is no different to the 6 backline players I mentioned above but he definitely had more ball further up than inside 50 which is the role many of us want him to play.

Just admit that you were wrong mate. Quit doubling down and making yourself look even more silly. It's nothing new that our defenders will press up the ground at times. He played the exact same role he has been.

Started every centre bounce inside def 50. 7 disposals inside def 50. 10 disposals between there and the middle of the ground (halfback). 4 disposals fwd half of ground.

I’m embarrassed for you MD.

I think there has definitely been a change in Daniel’s positioning over the last year. He’s taking far less kick ins and rarely finds himself in our defensive goal-square.

There was a spell last year where he’d repeatedly find himself mis-matched deep in defence. That doesn’t seem to happen anymore. I’m not sure if I’ve just agreed with MD here...

I think Bevo, Daniel and his team-mates all deserve credit for the improvement. Perhaps there has been a bigger focus on not letting Daniel get isolated when the opposition are in possession.

He was bloody great last night. His centre of gravity is so low. Just love watching him with ball in hand. So composed and so intelligent. We’re lucky to have him.

His move from kick in duties & the acquisition of Keef have been major factors in his improvement. He no longer has to dash back to cover holes & Williams doesn’t mess about , if there’s nothing on it’s a good old roost to the wings. Caleb’s cleverness doesn’t translate well to kick ins.

That is exactly what I was saying

He is clearly not as deep as often as previously

What about the decision making and skill in two plays. The kick off ground that went 30 metres to a player on his own when under the pressure an intentional play. Then the mark and kick basically one action to hit target at pace. They were elite plays you cannot teach that you must be born with that ability.

This thread keep lighting up its amazing how many people I have on ignore now and haven’t had a single issue with anyone for weeks.

Great win and CD played well in his new role

Its incredible to witness the lengths that people will go to to avoid accepting that they were wrong.

The kick in one is one of the most baffling. Up until last night, CD was taking the majority of kick ins. Even last week against the Swans he took all bar 2.

I suppose if they’ve got to the stage where they make stuff up to try and back their inaccurate comments, there’s zero chance they’ll admit they were wrong.

What’s laughable is expecting a heat map to tell the full story of a game.

Considering the argument is around CD’s positioning on the field, It’s a perfect representation of where CD impacts the game, Mantis. It also explains that from one week to the next over the last 12-18 mths, CD impacts the game in different areas of the ground with the majority being the back half. Some weeks between def 50 and the middle, others more so inside def 50. Zero consistency, and zero evidence that his game has changed.

How does a playmaker like Daniel play and have real influence on a game in areas that he hasn’t touched the ball?
I’m interested to hear your take Mantis.
