That’s the point, though. Who are we as a club?

If we win this game by 25 points, we will be in the top 8... for the first time since 2013.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Lose this game, and there’s no way we get back in the 8. We play out the string once again, happy to put up a good showing for an 8th straight year.

Id hope and like to see different, but if it doesn’t happen today, it won’t until 2021... then 2022... then....
We would need to win by a lot more than 25 points to get inside the 8 our percentage is 88.9, Gold Coast in 8th has a percentage of 102.4.

We would need to win by 40 just to get our percentage to 100.

Weather update anyone?

Just had a look at the radar. There is a bit of rain about that will impact the start of the game imo. I'm guessing there'll be no rain from half time onwards.

Reckon we'll have a good idea how we are going to perform today in the first 5 minutes.
No more slow bloody starts.

Our 2 wins we kicked the first few goals of the game.

Our 3 losses we got smashed in the first quarter and gave up big leads...iirc also goalless in all first quarters.

Need to start well and get an early goal to get into it.

Win today or we will be fighting for the spoon? That's serious hyperbole and overreacting.

Is it?

Lose, and we drop to (likely) 16th spot, possibly 17th, and play Port next week Very likely to be entrenched in the bottom 4 by round 7, at least 2 games off the pack ie fighting for the spoon.

Win and we sit 8th or 9th depending on the margin, part of a pack of 9 teams on 3 wins competing for the top 8. We would be a game out of the top 4, with 2 wins against top 4 teams under our belt. We get a free crack at Port and even if we lose can square the ledger and stay in the race the following week. Now that’s a pretty rosy outlook to build on.

Mentality is going to mean so much in the bubble too. Guys are going to get in each other’s head, either way - winning becomes infectious (as it has for Port), or the losses become self-justifiable. How the team views itself will mean so much imo.

Or maybe I’d just like us to make it to round 6 and the season be ‘alive’ for once. It’s astonishing how low our club has let its expectations slide, but somehow 7 straight years in the bottom 6 is a totally confortable scenario to many.
