yeah but has much more scope for improvement than Rafa imo

Really? so you dont think he can improve his serve and volley's? have you noticed he was stepping in from time to time to take the returns early? Rafa's fastest serve speed was 214 kph, which means he has the pace...but he needs proper direction now.

Yeah hes a star! but Murray has everything, Nadal is a star but is a little one dimensional big forehand and as fit as ******** .But Murray has alot of problems, yet still has so much upside.1st he needs to stop dwelling on points that hes already lost and secondly he needs to get fiitter .No doubt rafa is the better player right now,but some points Murray played tonite were amazing .

Murray's problems are more mental really, he a very typical Scottish Attitude. Shown he can beat anyone on his day, did well today against Nadal, am proud of him, showed a steely toughness that he needs to build on, not let things bother his as much,

I dont disagree that Murray has plenty of improvements left in him.He is only 65 kgs and 1.85 cm.He needs to put on weight, he is like a bean pole at the moment. He wont win grand slams unless he gets fitter or stronger. But Nadal has plenty of improvements as well.He cant volley for ******** and he cant hit and ace with that 214 kph serve. Now that needs improving.Look at how carlos moya improved his serve. He was a crap server to start with, but he ended up as a pretty big server.

Yeh Nadal still has some areas to improve, that’s pretty scary for the rest of the tour. ;)

He doesn’t get enough free points; how many aces did he serve tonight? Around 5 I think it was, not a great deal for a 5 set match. He does serve it quite quick though, quicker than you would think, but he just needs to work on getting it in the right areas more often. And as Total Power said, his volleying has a long way to go. But to say he’s one dimensional is a little off don’t you think Furn?

Yeah im not saying hes better than Nadal but if he can get his ******** together hes gonna be better than Henman ever was .I guess my point is that Britain, be it scottish, could have a better tennis player than Australia, which would be something we havent seen in our lifetimes .But yeah i dont know if he has the minerals to be great ,he has the talent but has to harden up when things dont go his way.

What strikes me most about Murray is his tactical nous on court - for someone who is 19, it is quite amazing. The way he constructs points by varying the pace, using topspin, sneaking into the net and generally using the entire court to his advantage. Even when he loses points you can often see he is working to a strategy. He looks like a player from 10-15 years ago in that sense.

Was a shame to see him go down so heavily in the 5th, because he really should have broken back at 2-0 down when he played an out ball. Still think Nadal would have won as he is more advanced physically, but you could see his head visibly drop after that third game when he had the chances to break back and didn't.

He's young and brash, but his temperament will certainly improve with experience and maturity. He will be massive in a year or two once he's had some more time on tour to get experience. Will be very interesting to see where he is at the end of this year.

Just on a sidenote, why do players from England and Scotland, ect. compete under the GBR banner. I know its been that way for ages, more than 100 years even, but why so?

Probably so we can get a davis cup team together. Dunno, I guess its how Australia used to come under 'Australasia' but we just havent changed yet.

It is pretty embarrassing that a country with a huge population like England has to team up with neighbouring countries, whereas a tiny country like Australia stands alone. ;)

Australia is so much better for playing sport though.

- More room for sporting venues
- More sporting facilities
- Better weather
- In England there is 2 main sports (Football, Rugby) cricket is a not so popular 3rd
- Not many people play Tennis in England (because of the weather)

Because Great Britain is the country, and England and Scotland are "only" kingdoms within the United Kingdom. They're not seperate sovereign nations.

300 years last week, and it's down to "The Act of Union" Scotland, England, Wales and NI are united in a kingdom...

Evened out by the fact England has a good 30 million people on us.
Pathetic really:p

England has 20 Million on Australia... The weather can be a problem and the training system isn't too good, and it's mostly grass tournaments so it's harder to adjust after when they have to stop playing on grass because of the weather.

Isn't Englands population about 52 million. That would make it 30
