Round 8 will feature a sight that many of us have never had the fortune to witness in our short time on this Earth.

For the first time in living memory, Collingwood will:

  • Play consecutive games away from the MCG
  • Play consecutive games outside of Melbourne
  • Play consecutive games outside of Victoria

AND

  • Play consecutive games in Western Australia.

On Sunday afternoon we will play host to Eddie’s Black and White brigade, the Pies.

Oh wait, that isn’t Collingwood. Oops.

Collingwood are a side we have matched up well against in recent history, we’ve taken home the choccies in 4 of our last 5 meetings, with that loss being by a solitary point which Scott Pendlebury single handedly robbed us of by spending his entire evening blocking our defenders from having a run at the ball, giving some people the impression that Mason Cox has some footballing ability and isn’t just stealing a living by virtue of being tall, and American, and arrogant.

If you ask him, he's so good he can do it with no hands

But hey, he played well against Richmond when no one was on him, so he’s got that going for him.

Is there any need to mention the 2018 Grand Final again? Not really. Is that going to stop me? Nope. 5goalsupandlostlol.

Jokes aside, this is a must win game for our Eagles (again), we come into this bout having won our last 3 games comfortably, but we still have plenty of room for improvement. Those 3 wins have all come against sides currently in the bottom 4, meaning the Pies should be a good indicator of if we really are back or if we’re still off the pace.

The Pies will go into this one wounded, missing mercurial forward Jordan De Gropey Goey to an unfortunately timed finger injury. They’ll also be missing front liner Steele Sidebottom due to his infamous COVID bender, as well as the duo of Howe and Langdon down back.

By contrast, we come into this match with a relatively clean slate, with skipper Norm “Chingers” Shuey expected to make his return and Jamaine Jones also pushing for a return from injury.

What do we expect? We expect this blossoming rivalry to add another great battle to the ledger. Expect Collingwood to come out firing, probably shooting out to a 5 goal lead early in the first quarter.

Expect the Eagles to respond and slowly peg the lead back until the sides are level at the final change. Expect Liam Ryan to fold a bloke twice his size in half.

Expect Collingwood to fly out of the gates in the last and look likely victors, only for some ressies bloke from Kalgoolrie to ice the game from the impossible angle in time on.

Sound familiar? You’re goddamn right it does.

Is it a game of football if De Goey isnt in the goal square? Like if no one cal feel the wind, is their wind?
He’s spending his time in the Gaol square these days

honestly expecting a 5 goal win here. they've been on the road for a few weeks now and having been at the pies/cats game last week both sides seemed to be lacking real intensity until the last quarter. think we'll absorb their best shot in the first half and be too well rested and clinical and run away with it in the second. got a feeling the hubbing vic sides are going to really struggle to find the 4 points against us or the dockers even.

We really have to make the most of this block of home games, cos who knows what we'll have to deal with after.

Do we get Razor Ray? He's in love with Collingwood at the moment.

They usually don't match up well against us but if we play like Geelong did last week then we're in trouble. Both Moore and Roughead are strong in the air but JK and Darling need to bring the ball to ground or make sure the spoils go to the boundary line where we can use Nic Nat's tap dominance to give our mids first use and smash em in clearances.
