Each to their own.
This is not an opinion though, you can't say 'each to their own' when it's fact. We're not a young list or a young squad. Our 22 with kids is hilariously offset by a bunch of blokes above 28 years old and 150 games. Each to their own.

I happen to'The young Port team' a bigger myth than Atlantis and so obvious that even Blighty highlights it correctly in his old nutter ramblings.
I happen to see it differently. What I recognise is that we can build a successful team around the quality of our younger group. Sure we have a few players in their twilight no doubt. But this constant banging on about this ageing group is crap. You can have a whole heap of young players, but are they any good. The focus purely on age is a load of bullshit as it also comes down to talent. The way the afl is these days, success is a whole lot more that constantly getting first round draft picks. If we can replace some of our ageing players with decent free agents etc over the next couple of years, then with the quality of our younger players we can challenge. But to suggest we will fall off a cliff is total bs.'The young Port team' a bigger myth than Atlantis and so obvious that even Blighty highlights it correctly in his old nutter ramblings.
Me too. See my post above.Yeah, I assume this was directed at me? I do try to deal in fact and not the mythological narrative the club has been peddling for the past couple of years that would have dullards and simps believe we’re a team overflowing with raw children, and not one that up until recently was running with the third oldest lineup behind Hawthorn and Geelong.
No one is suggesting that we are an ultra young group. But we do have a lot of young talent that we can build a decent team around going forward. This is not an opinion though, you can't say 'each to their own' when it's fact. Just yikes.
Do we? We have a lot of young players, but are they any good? We don't know because Ken aint picking them over the geriatric brigade. No one is suggesting that we are an ultra young group. But we do have a lot of young talent that we can build a decent team around going forward.
You forgotThe saints fielded:
a younger squad.
a less experienced squad.
a squad full of players with 1 win at AO in their careers.
a squad who fisted an older more experienced 22.
Doesn't seem to bother Brisbane much, they'e smashing the clearances despite their ruck getting pantsed.Collin
Gawn is looming as a major problem for Port.Marshall and Paddy are stars but Gain is better again.
Their Midfield isn't prone to not turning up and being mentally weak like ours.Doesn't seem to bother Brisbane much, they'e smashing the clearances despite their ruck getting pantsed.

Spot on. Great postPort 2004 tribey neither of you are wrong. We can be an old team on average while still fielding a number of young players. Both of those things can be true at the same time.
We played Rozee, Butters, Duursma, Marshall, Ladhams, Georgiades, Houston, Powell-Pepper, Farrell last night, we would've played Burton if he wasn't injured. Plenty of clubs would kill to have 10 U23 players of that quality. But our average age and experience gets dragged up by the fact that we also have a lot of guys at the other end of their careers, and very little in between.
And his top 10 draft pick mate.We have that high draft pick water skiing guy in the prime age bracket though.
Melbourne are a very frustrating side but.Weiderman has missed 4 shots 35 m out from goal.Bennell Gawn himself and a few others. The Dees have had more than enough quality footy fwd but have just blew it.Doesn't seem to bother Brisbane much, they'e smashing the clearances despite their ruck getting pantsed.

Very selective posting just to support your argument. Schulzenfest post is more reflective of the true position of our list.Ages as of Round 1, 2021
Westhoff: 34
Gray: 33
Boak: 32
Ebert: 31
Rockliff: 31
Hartlett: 30
Dixon: 30
Jonas: 30
Motlop: 30
Watts: 30
McKenzie: 29
But hey, because we’re playing around 6-8 guys who are Under 23 each week (just like everyone else) we’ll not only be fine, but be even better than the past 5 years?
We basically have the same team age profile as Brisbane.

What is this obsession with age? A number of the guys in your list did not even play last night.
