I hope you're correct. It looks like we'll see anyway.

We can do some real damage with 2, 7 & 28 this year to compliment Simpkin, LDU, Scott, Larkey, McKay, Thomas, Taylor, Walker, Hayden & Zurhaar.

People need to focus more on that: 2, 7 & 28 this year to compliment Simpkin, LDU, Scott, Larkey, McKay, Thomas, Taylor, Walker, Hayden & Zurhaar.

It's good. A new dawn IS emerging.

Bottom this year with what you have said.

Mid 6 next year add pick 8 + Jackson Archer

Finals in 22 with a pick in the teens + Cooper Harvey

Put Darby Scott in there somewhere.

Further to that if the rumours are true I'd suggest once our year is done we send a contingent led by Jy and Jed to talk to him about what our club stands for.

It was a rumour started on BomberBlitz, absolutely no truth to it whatsoever. He's going to the Dogs.

Oh well, pick 1 =3000 points.

3000 - 20% = 2400 points.

In the event of a 1st pick bid they'll wipe out their 2020 1st & 2 x 3rd round picks, and go in to deficit by 224 points for 2021.

The kid will want to be very good & I'm old enough to remember Bryce Gibbs being touted as the future GOAT.

And with any luck he’ll end up more Jared Brennan than Lance Franklin.

Could you imagine the sh*t fit the media would have if the highest rated kid turned down nominating for NGR and wound up with us will burning the dogs?

They'd change the rules.

Probably on the spot. He’d be forcably sent to Footscray and we’d be stripped of all draft picks for 5 years.

Well given you have us bidding pick 1 for him, you'd have to assume we rate him the best in the draft, no?

And let's be honest, do you really think the Bulldogs haven't been planning for this for at least the last 12 months?

I doubt they go into a deficit.

Hopefully we don’t get caught up in trading for their dregs to hand them points.

Well given you have us bidding pick 1 for him,

No, I didn't state that. It's an assumption drawn from the widely held view that he's the best talent in the draft.

False implication. Kindly note:
In the event of a 1st pick bid..............

Your "hunch" is as good as mine.

I think it was obvious I was basing my reply on the implied outcome that we do bid pick 1, as you suggested 'may' occur...ya know, given the draft hasn't actually happened yet.

He’s Adelaide NGA.

His highlight real is fairly insane.

Sorry for the intrusion, Adelaide poster here.

His highlights reel does look very encouraging, but there are some definite worries about his work rate and pressure acts/tackling. Has frequently come out of games this year with absolutely no tackles on the board at all. I think he'll be bid on before Edwards though, our F/S (if he nominates us!)

North are 8 points & significant percentage off pick 1, so it's not your best assumption.

Sorry, given we're on the North board and the posts in this thread were about North potentially bidding for him, I assumed you were contributing to that conversation.

You don't have to apologise for anything mate, just give an extra 5 seconds to framing your comments.

In fact, this is probably the leading cause of arguments around here, and I am just as guilty of it at times.

If and that's a big IF, we got the #1 pick, you bid on JUH.

I'm of the opinion you put all the pressure on him/them as the #1 pick.

Inversely, you wouldn't want to put all the pressure on your kid as a 'false' no.1 pick. Can you imagine the media storm if Hagen started lighting it up early? It would be the McCartin/Watts situation all over again, kids fall in a heap with that pressure.

I expect Adelaide to do the same, especially if they go after Thilthorp, who is a lot more comparable as a fellow KPP to say a Phillips or Hollands.

Agree; I don't think you get too cute with this stuff. Whether it's pick 1 (or 2 or 3) if you rate any given player at that spot, then you bid, and let the club with the Academy/F-S worry about matching it with their discount. If they don't, then you get the player you want, and if they do match you've forced their hand (and maybe got an opportunity to trade for points further down the draft)

Thought McCartin's issues were physical chiefly concussion related? Got the impression he was a strong character and natural leader, his #1 status wasn't what sunk him.

After the fact maybe.

His first year or so before the concussions issues were rough.

He immediately had pressure on him from media, even in game #1 the knives were out, as most had Petracca as the no.1.

The media ALWAYS speculates on the career of the #1 picks.

Watts, Boyd, McCartin, Weitering, Kreuzer and Gibbs have all had their haters. Even Hodge did early days.

Look at Walsh, he had 4 or 5 bad weeks and the media were already piling in on him....

The only ones I think have escaped any scruitiny are like David Swallow, purely because he's at a club with no fan base.

It's a poisoned chalice.

I think we could/would definitely engineer the 2nd pick, somewhere, or player swap, to appease the "higher ups"....although what was the Geelong deal with GCS pick 10(?) last year? Wasn't that weird and heavily leveraged in Cats favour? You'd be more across that.
The bolded above sounds much more like draft tampering to me.

Just remember that the Crows got GWS' 2020 1st rd draft pick last year for simply moving from Pick 4 to Pick 6 in the 2019 Draft so that GWS could try and move ahead of Green being nominated... (although that pick was/is anticipated to fall in the mid teens this year)

Anything less than that would draw the attention of the AFL for Draft tampering, even more so as the picks are higher value (IF the Crows get Band 1 compensation for Crouch).

My guess is that we'll select Thilthorpe with Pick 1, keep the Bulldogs honest and select JUH with pick 2, then select Phillips with pick 3. I think there is still some bad blood between the list managers of Crows/Bulldogs over the Keath trade.
We will have to meet bids on Edwards (F/S) and Tarek Newchurch (NGA), whilst also potentially picking up Borlase (NGA). My guess is that we'll try to move the GWS 1st into next year perhaps, i just don't see us taking 6 players this year, and next years Draft looks excellent.

You aren’t getting pick 2 mate, not in a million years.
