Ninethomd can have the nuggety FP for 17 first rounders. I‘d prefer Rioli for a mid to late 2nd or early 3rd.

I genuinely believe he could become available on the trade table. Our 2020 2nd + 3rd would get it done.

He's quality. The difference between him and Papley is that Papley isn't competing with 5-6 other quality small forward in the same match.

By the time the ball has been directed to either Lynch or Riewoldt, Rioli is sharing forward supply with the likes of Edwards, Bolton, Higgins, Castagna and Lambert all rotating through the forward line.

Who is Papley sharing supply with? Both Franklin and Heeney are injured. Elijah Taylor is a first year player and Ryan Clarke.........

There's every chance that if Rioli was targeted as much as Papley, he'd be in AA form too!

Funny how you can argue either side - papley is on his own so can do more while rioli struggles because Richmond have heaps of options.

On the other side, papley is on his own and has to work his ass off to beat the opposition while rioli can have it easy as he is the 5th or 6th wheel

Draft picks for a compromised draft due to no football? Worth their weight in dogshit this year

You could end up with some real bargains this year, will be a real crapshoot as no one has any real idea of who is capable of what.

Exactly, so not sure they are worth much as a trade as live picks. Going to be a lot of hit and miss picks. Could be worth something for academy picks as arrow said (and i hadn't thought of)

There is no denying that but imo Dow and fish are going to be important assets in our midfield. I would rather we get the next level below papley and keep Dow and fish. Butlers kicking lots of goals too and he was much cheaper. Got to watch we are not paying too much and in particular not trade important players from our list.
Need headline talent in premiership teams. We don't have enough of that

A lot of talk in the media about josh kelly. Plus I have it from the very reliable source (member inside blue believers hearts bleed Carlton Facebook page) that we are throwing the house at josh kelly
as audacious a 23rd post as has been seen in these parts........

Sure, but those that really know, will know that it’s not about the boat-shed per se, but, rather, whether the purchaser would have likely got better value if he’d putt his resources into something other than a boat-shed.

Of course it’s possible.
As a quick exercise, how long does what you pay for something maintain relevance?

I look at our list, when Willo first played, it was wow, look what we got in the 3rd or 4th round, great get, now it’s not relevant anymore, he’s just a player with a job to do.

How long does it matter that we got Martin for free? We will bring it up a lot this season, but in 2-3 years, will it hold much significance?

Do the Pies look back and regret the Treloar trade?

I don’t regret the Judd trade, as we did very well out of it and believe any failings were to decisions after the fact.

My point with the boat shed was, that return on investment is whats important.

Years ago, Adelaide were stupid to pay up for Eddie and we were in the right, two years later and the thinking was the opposite, when Brisbane traded pick 10 or so for Cameron, they were laughed at, no one is laughing now.

The price you pay will be forgotten on whichever player, as long as you get it right.

Yes.... but are they also telling us we should be taking that to the bank?
