Butler played worse than Rioli has this year in every single one of his games last year. By the end of 2019 we couldn’t wait to see the end of Butler.

Butler was playing poorly and was very down on confidence in 2019. But he's still one that we got wrong. We develop most players very well but unfortunately we didn't get the most out of his talent.

He was always a guy that had all the tools it just had to click for him. He's a much better player and with a higher ceiling than Rioli and Castagna.

Doesn't matter much now, we usually get them right but we have let go of a good player imo.

Why not give someone like Dow or rcd a game or Markov who was stiff to be dropped in the first place

Yeah looking at the team sheets we need another big body in the middle. Which is why I would have brought Graham instead of Rioli.

If we break even in the middle, our forward line is better than theirs and our backline is better than theirs.

Thought it was a ruthless decision to omit Higgins, but have faith in our system overall.
Rioli and Caddy both play forward so they've adopted a more offensive approach this week.
Just hope Butters doesn't strike form again.
He's the only player who bothers me because he's mercurial.
Hope Stack can collect.

Yeah Pickett, Bolton, Stack and Lambert all in the same midfield is a bit too small. Wines and Rockliff would be too strong for them, which is why I think Caddy will play on the inside

After looking at the numbers good decision to give Higgins a spell vs port started to tire. Aarts is playing his role well
As for Rioli does look like he has things other than footy on his mind

Sometimes some players need a little support during troubling times that make them better people and better players

Players like Dan Rioli dont lose their ability or class they just need to get into good head space

Never ever did we predict that Dan Butler was a better player than Rioli but clearly once in a better place he has produced for the saints

Lets give Dan a chance to get back to his best it may take a while but i have no doubt he will get there
