But it's so much better to blame umpires, like it would make a difference to the constant, massive point swings yeah?
Why can't he rest forward? Appreciate he's not known for it, but having a tall unit down there to compete/get it to ground and make their defenders accountable wouldn't hurt?I kind of got Teague’s predicament with TDK and Pitto today though. Our plan was to play TDK forward and have Pitto ruck the majority of the game, managing TDK’s minutes. TDK then spends a good 45 minutes doing well as first ruck and that makes Pitto redundant. It’s not as though we can play him forward.
I used to umpire man. They fisted us.

I don't agree.
Pitto plays relatively well as part of transition, and he plays very well as a kick behind. Think of him as a poor man's McEvoy; he's going to help you structurally, and if given enough time he's going to plonk himself directly in the hole behind the ball. He's also - when not actively against a bloke who makes an awful lot of rather competent people look very, very silly - quite a decent ruck, not by hitout amount but by hitouts to advantage, which is a huge difference for us.
Can we do better? Probably. I'd be having TDK in, and rotating him, Cas and Pitto around to fu** with our opponents structurally, but make no mistake Pitto is perfectly fine as an AFL player. He's only exploitable because our midfield is still undermanned and somewhat undersized.

I agree. This has been the case for years. We have been focussed on recruiting nice guys and haven’t put out a team which can intimidate the opposition with a ferocious attack on the ball let alone defending our own, since our halcyon days back in the 90’s. For years other teams have pushed us around and we don’t seem to react or defend our own. Look at the teams who have built premiership dynasties, Brisbane, Geelong, Hawthorn and now Premiershipmond, they have all been tough no nonsense teams which were bigger and stronger that the rest of the league and no one pushed them over without repercussions.
Would be great to recruit some bruisers.

Appreciate all of that. My response was more in reference to who we had out there today. In a perfect scenario we'd have all those players you mentioned, but we didn't and don't at the moment, so it was mainly having Pitt resting forward to give TDK or Casboult a turn in the ruck. It’s just not really his go. He’s a competitive ruckman who can at best break even at the stoppages, but his lack of athleticism and reasonably average hands mean he’s unlikely to ever be useful up forward - even resting there. The way we play relies on our forwards to be good on-one-on, which all of Curnow, McKay, McGovern and Casboult are, but Pittonet has never showed much of a capacity for it.
Plus in the second half of the game we were just mindlessly bombing it forward, which wasn’t favouring anyone. If we needed a Hail Mary grab however I’d be far more confident in TDK executing, which he almost did on a couple of occasions.
I understand what you mean; he does mouth off a-bit out there. But I like that about him. It shows he's got inner mongrel he needs to get out. Besides, the umpiring has have been shithouse. And way too much lip it’s doing him no favours
Murphy’s arms are too short is possibly the funniest thing I have ever read here.
He legit has T-rex arms.
