How many weeks for Tom lynch?

Rubbish. Lynch has the height and reach advantage.

And I don't think Wakelin from your mob would ever want to fight another Lynch again.

At the end of the day, Tom has struck fear into the hearts of AFL defenders.

It's easy to act tough after the game and punch walls in the change rooms and that. Not convinced there are any willing to stand toe to toe with Tom. The kid has a mean streak in him.

Sometimes when I'm watching the football, even I have to turn away when Lynchy shirtfronts a bloke and splits him down the middle BANG!

Jonas Would rip his head off and use it as a sex toy. Half our team would throw down with him. Hartlett would. DBJ would. Lycett would. Dixon absolutely would. Boak would. Wines would. SPP would. He's not nearly as tough as you think he is. He's a soft**** who likes hitting people who aren't expecting it.

Right so you're allowed to punch people off the ball again
you have been the whole year. lets not pretend this is some kind of richmond conspiracy even though thats the flavor of the last 3 years.

only guy who was suspended from memory was merrett, because he put silvagni in hospital

Merrett's was like the weakest as well, hit him with what looked like the top part of his hand and just got unlucky. The whole "judge punishment based on outcome rather then intent" type attitude they've got is so frustrating. Not saying Lynch's example yesterday was really bad, but it should just be a clear cut case of "ok, he meant to do that, what precedent do we want to set for deliberate strikes?". Good for Richmond but just a sackless decision from the AFL. Waiting for the inevitable back flip in a few weeks time of a deliberate strike to the body getting like 3 weeks or something.

Archer would split his head in two. Pretty much any KPD from pre 2010 would.

As I mentioned in the game day thread, the days of your Brian Lake types are gone and I suspect Lynch knows this.
Crazy Brian used to remind his opponents when they started niggling that if they went to ground in a contest be aware of his bad habit of landing on them elbows first !!! - and incidents like his infamous tangle with Goldstein simply reminded players at the time what can happen when you p"ss a physco off...

Also Collins, like all the new kids, needs to be smarter, if that happened to Dangerflop, he probably would've been calling for the stretcher...

aahhhhh hang on a minute.
Depends on who you are and for which Team you represent, unless you don't mind copping a week or two.
Its just bizarre how you can get get rubbed out for weeks for a tackle gone bad or a bump that goes high, which with all good intentions the player is is normally trying to do the right thing. But on the other hand you can deliberately punch someone and get just a fine?
It's just hard to take anything seriously with the AFL when they want to preach all things socially acceptable, yet condone punching which normal people in society cannot do.

not disagreeing. just pointing out that this is an entirely fair outcome based on the previous outcomes during the year, where these kinds of strikes have been fines for every player, rather than this being another afl conspiracy by some salty richmond hater.

would be more than happy to see things like this be a mandatory 1 week suspension from next year, but cant change the rules halfway through.

As good a mark on the lead and kick for goal that he is, I can't recall Lynch running under a high ball into a pack or putting his head over it too many times. Always the first guy to dish out a cheapy off the ball though. MRO had another opportunity to make a stand here against something we're supposedly trying to get out of the game and failed again. Hawkins would have unquestionably got a week for the same act.

Staggering really. AFL wants to be all molly coddly and take the big hits out of the game but lets the niggle go on. The big hits were what stopped the niggle 30-40 years ago because if you acted like Lynch did you'd get knocked out. Can't take governance of the game seriously when someone like Michael Christian is this incompetent. I didn't even think Lynch deserved a huge penalty, just pretty clear a week was deserved for continued bullshit.

Meanwhile Neal Bullen gets 4 weeks for a tackle gone wrong that wasn't even close to the worst sling tackle of the year.

That's basically been the AFL's go to move this year officiating

except that the tribunal gave hawkins the exact same sanction about a week ago

Lynch should challenge it but wont ofc no sense risking weeks, should just have been a free at most and play on.

Shame that anything that the commentators talk about has to get looked at.

doesnt make it right or fair.

fair would be the same outcome each time, wouldnt you agree?

Yep, but even the comment from one of the posters above has pointed out that it isn't the case, Merrett got a week for his strike to the body. It hasn't been their most inconsistent rule interpretation this year but there is at least 1 outlier.

Umpiring and Match Review has been all over the joint.
