I just want to congratulate all those gathered around the guillotine with their knitting demanding for Daniel Andrews’ head to be so vigilant for that of Brad Hazzard‘s and Gladys Berejiklian’s also.......and the bloke who said he wouldn’t let any cruise ships into Australia in the first place.
You’re all a great example of balance, intelligence and lateral thinking.

A truly shining light of the intellect of our country.
Well done.
Hope this isn't aimed at me as I was critical of NSW government, Ministry of Health & cruise ship management at the time of the Ruby Princess debacle.

But the Victorian mess is in the now.

This is completely false.
Flu vaccines aren't 100% effective, but they do greatly reduce the risk of getting the disease and spreading it.

Coronaviruses are amongst the many viruses that cause the common cold. The main reason there hasn't been a vaccine for them is that it wasn't really worth it.

There was work on SARS and MERS vaccines, but those diseases was brought under control before anything could come of it. I believe a lot of the current vaccine development is built on this previous work.
SARS 1 was brought under control because it killed its host really quickly, so no real time to be infectious like SARS2. Our vaccine candidate here in QLD is based on work on the original SARS outbreak and was initially funded (NHMRC) early in the process but sat idle once it was no longer required. This team has since been working on West Nile virus, Dengue fever and malaria.

OK Jenny though I do not have a medical background I do have an anilitical and information gathering background,
And I know as FACT that until this year there has never been a concrated effort of this kind in finding a vancine for anything in World History,
So any oprevious data on the issue cannot be used as a guidline or template.
So I woul;d advise to anyone do use all data to push a piont, in regards to a covid 19 vacine,
You do understand the are currently 7 phase 3 trails including several with high standing,
You do understand the implications of a Phase 3 Trail more so when some of these trials are being conducted in muliple countries with differing Gynectics, Climates and Diets, an intresting fact, as that has not happen at this level before.
Also some of the earlyier results from the phase 3 trial have come backwith very positive results, which have givern developers enough information to make a decent rick assesmernt and start manufacting earlier than normal,

And Please stop with the old Australia print media reports as proof, It's known that the Austyralia government will be talking up the process on the side of caution, but planing for a more optimistic start,
And before you ask again where I am getting my info from, I getting it from from Government reports and overseas government report along with reports from several notable medical journals, I am reading these reports and not just the head lines.

Also my tip there are 2 possibly 3, Phase 3 trials that will go into Phase 4 production before the year end. and by Production I mean mass production.
My only concern today re Australia is the roll out procedure, and priorities attached.

So, you aren’t actually in the field.... but you can read a scientific paper... 😳

I was scathing of the NSW govt on the Ruby issue.

I think you’re mistaken - it’s those on the left that have zero capacity to be objective and will always drag the debate down to petty partisan politics.

Yep, at the time Captain Stubing blamed Slomo for the Ruby Princess but most people were highly critical of Gladys and NSW Health of dropping the ball. They were very lucky their poor handling of it didn't result in a Victorian style outbreak.

Yes I am not in the field,
But one does not have to, All a person needs is to understand the where, when and who. with a bit of risk assememnet and statistical date thrown in for good measure.
Oh and a friend in Know helps aswell.

By the way, a person does not need to be in the field to understand why companies are gearing up production lines, and ensure the equitment and suppliee needed are in the right place at the right time,

As for reading scientific papers it not as hard as you Think.

It also does help an enquire if federal officials are allowed to provide evidence at said inquiry. The benefit was the country went into severe lockdown in mid-late March which contained the spread (unfortunately 28 people died) whereas Vic was lifting slowly lifting restrictions when the quarantine outbreak started thereby providing the ability for the virus to spread.

And knock on effect is SA, Qld, WA, are so jumpy they are starting to seriously impinge on our abilities to access medical treatment across borders , travel to work, hire in farm contractors etc etc etc. personally I’ve been critical of the lazy one size fits all from the get go. I’m not alone. But I think most people like to have someone telling them what to do. These state borders are after all just fictional lines drawn on paper. They are a human construct as is time and money. Anyhow that a bit too “out there” for most.

You keep falsely stating medical treatment will be blocked.

However I do feel for those border communities like Pinaroo & Murrayville where some common sense exemptions could have been applied to enable them to properly function with schools & business.

What a trainwreck of an interview. Marshall needs to get control of his party and get good policies working.

Students from 'unknown countries' are getting priority over Australians entering SA because of $$$$

It’s also happening in that Tweed river area. Probably everywhere there is a border. Medical facilities are pretty s**t anywhere but the large cities.
it took me 5 years to get my hernia fixed in Cairns whereas my sister said it would have been less than a year tops in Adelaide. So the already difficult situations are likely far worst. I dare say the suicide rates are now way in advance of COVID deaths alone. Try getting a mental health booking in a regional town. Pretty much any specialist is a 6 month wait. Ruling out the ability to simply cross the fictional border can ad some serious complexities, deadly complexities.

Just an Update on the various Trials. this is a openly avaiable source, you will need to download the Info from this WHO site.
then access the shortcuts on the phase 3 trials, Sugest you look at the expect completion dates.

PS you don't need to have any previous medical knowledge to read.

Edit forgot to add this one aswell.

These are not the only reports but they are available to everyone.

Did you miss this bit of info on that link?

“Researchers worldwide are working around the clock to find a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing the COVID-19 pandemic. Experts estimate that a fast-tracked vaccine development process could speed a successful candidate to market in approximately 12-18 months – if the process goes smoothly from conception to market availability.

To date, just one coronavirus vaccine has been approved. Sputnik V – formerly known as Gam-COVID-Vac and developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute in Moscow – was approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on 11 August. Experts have raised considerable concern about the vaccine’s safety and efficacy given it has not yet entered Phase 3 clinical trials.“
Dated 13 August 2020.

So.... open up the borders and businesses, let it run rampant because suicides are no doubt up since this began? Is that your solution? How many folk die if we do that?

Missed this bit in a non-Sky News article?

“The international students will have to quarantine for two weeks in a hotel at their own expense and pay for their flights to Australia.“
