Lol this mask thingy is the biggest load of crap.

How did humans ever live without them.. seriously how?

what a scam made to wear mask walking in a park with no one around. Or walking down the street no one around.

It’s ridiculous. What happened to the government prediction of 150,000 Aussies who were to die from this flu.

Well done on the gov protecting age care homes. What a farce.

Saw a group of 8 people doing an outdoor PT session last week. In a park. No masks, close proximity. After the session I watched two people having a chat without masks, very close proximity. After the conversation they put their masks on and got into their cars.

I was down on a nearby track walking (mask on). Asked them what they were doing with no masks and they said ‘We are allowed to exercise, you are’. I kindly pointed out that what they were doing wasn’t allowed at all.

All I’ll say is that this was a suburb where people should know better. But hey, housewives with more money than sense.
That's terrible. I hope you called the police. Glad you kept your mask on walking on your own, making a difference :thumbsu:

Who are the anti-maskers, asks Chief? Let's answer him with some facts.
  • The BBC.
  • Public Health England.
  • The UK Advertising Standards Authority.
  • NHS Medical Directors.

The ASA said the adverts were "misleading" because the claims went against official advice.
A spokesman said Public Health England informed the ASA "that they do not recommend the use of face masks as a means of protection from coronavirus".
"We understood there was very little evidence of widespread benefit from their use outside of clinical settings," the ASA said in a statement.
Prof Stephen Powis, NHS medical director, said: "Callous firms looking to maximise profits by pushing products that fly in the face of official advice is outright dangerous and has rightly been banned."

  • Chief Medical Officer of the UK
  • The Independent

  • Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the UK
Jenny Harries, deputy chief medical officer, said the masks could “actually trap the virus” and cause the person wearing it to breathe it in.
“For the average member of the public walking down a street, it is not a good idea” to wear a face mask in the hope of preventing infection, she added.

  • CNN
  • US Surgeon General
US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams not only wants people to stop buying facemasks to prevent the novel coronavirus, but warns that you actually might increase your risk of infection if facemasks are not worn properly.

  • The ABC
While protecting yourself from coronavirus is key to helping slow its spread, face masks are not recommended for healthy members of the general public.
That's because there is limited evidence to support the widespread use of surgical masks in healthy people to prevent community transmission.
Most often, the spread of respiratory viruses from person-to-person happens among close contacts.

  • The World Health Organisation
As described above, the wide use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not supported by current evidence and carries uncertainties and critical risks.

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
CDC director Robert Redfield testified before the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee and was asked if healthy people should wear masks. “No,” Redfield responded.

Seems very obvious now that either 1) western citizens were told not to use masks to save them for medical settings, because they had negligently allowed stockpiles to run low with most shipped off to Wuhan in January (but even this theory may not be correct as we were told to not even make our own to wear) or 2) western citizens now told to wear masks to give some visual hint that "something is being done" and allow confidence to return for economic reasons.

Only dopeys can't understand this and think it is somehow some left-wing totem, with the right-wing being crazily anti-science.

I don’t know him. I’m just open to people’s ideas..

Freedom of speech should never go away. Is this what you want? That’s the point here.

2 million followers and growing.. incredible for such ridicule...
LOL. So you seriously think that if someone is popular on Facebook then that must mean they have something worthwhile to contribute?
Good on ya.

Chief, do you mind adding the following to your spotters guide please of anti-maskers? Much more helpful than focusing on some obscure doofus like Pete Evans or whatever. :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

February... March.... What’s the current view?

February... March.... What’s the current view?

Hahahaha, OK then. "No, GoldenSky, please don't look at all these supposedly reputable organisations, many actually charged with protecting public health, saying this stuff during the actual spread of the pandemic; no please look at what they are saying now after the horse has bolted, without providing any reasoning as to why their evidence has changed so drastically or why their previous evidence was incorrect".

Embarrassing stuff. But anyways, I agree, we need a spotters guide to anti-maskers - can you please add these organisations to your list? Important to know who, during a pandemic, was putting out false and non-nonsensical information.

Oh and the WHO advice was issue in April, but what use are facts and evidence here when we can have a good old rant about how stupid the right-wing are, right? :$ :$ :straining: :straining: :$ :$
April then.

What month are we in now? And yes, a difference of a few months matters in this context.

Right now, today, what is the advice of these bodies?
