Why are people obsessed with ditching next year’s picks whenever there’s a f/s on the horizon?

we don’t automatically lose that pick yeah?

If it turns out it’s going to get eaten up by a bid we can trade it next year, even during the draft.

as great as jase is looking I still wouldn’t be assuming he’s going before our pick, especially in a draft that is looking excellent at the top end right now.

My thinking was based on our use of picks last year, and some general trends in terms of the fluctuating value of draft picks.

- In the 2020 trade period, 2021 1st rounders will attract a premium
- In the 2020 draft period, 2020 1st rounders will attract a premium

Which means we can extract an extra 10-15% from our 2021 1st by bringing it forward to this year. Maybe even more due to the uncertainty in this draft and the depth of the next draft. (IE a pick 12-18 next year becomes pick 10 this year).

Then if we play our cards right, we can extract another 10-15% from the pick through live trading. (IE pick 10 becomes pick 12 + 2021 2nd rounder).

We pick up a KPD or Mid such as Cox/Ried or O'Driscoll & Jones. And we gain some of our 2021 draft capital back and still have priority access to a super talent in Jase Burgoyne.

Just one way of doing things. Plus we can play the same game next year if we want as well.

I like the idea of having as much young talent on our list as soon as possible. Get the whole group coming through together.

re James Borlase

So have the AFL canned Cat B rookies for next year, denying the Crows their dubious back door ?

If they do, do we automatically get Borlase under FS ?

Daisy played 246 games for the Maggies - surely that's enough

He didn't play enough premiership point/final games before the end of 1996.

Edit: Second problem is that he plays for a Crows-aligned club in Sturt. If the family had lived a couple suburbs over he'd be at Norwood and eligible for us. Thems the breaks.

Who is eligible: A player must have played 200 or more SANFL games for Port Adelaide before 1997 – the year the Power entered the AFL. A contentious case is one of Darryl Borlase and his son James, who is a key position player at Sturt and a chance for the 2020 AFL Draft. Darryl was credited with 201 SANFL games for Port when he played in the 1996 SANFL Grand Final, but that was stripped back to 177 games when the AFL declared Escort Cup games were ineligible. To make matters worse, James, a member of the AFL's Australian under-15 team last year, is part of Adelaide's Next Generation Academy because he was born in the Middle East.

Ok Thanks

Bummer

Will be interesting to see if we get him in the national draft then

Can suck it!
Borlase had 14 disposals, 6 marks, 5 rebound 50’s in his league debut. Fair effort.

I thought he had a long way to go before the start of the year to be draftable but those numbers suggest he may have closed the gap. He’s a good athlete with an already mature frame so performing against men is worth much more than at U18’s.

A couple more games like that and he may become a genuine Second round selection... Carn James!

He doesn’t have to nominate Adelaide as a NGA listed player, or is that Father/Son?

I haven’t been watching this game but 8marks sounds promising, like he’s been getting into space on the outside which is what he needs to do
Time to put Taj back on ice lol.
Also if we are not lobbying the AFL re daisy lad I'll be mighty pissed off anyone know if we are making noises?
