Also Wingard is actually shit. He has been for a number of years now. I doubt he would even be in our best 22 right now.
Yes he was great early in his career, but he has proven that if you don’t work hard, you won’t achieve anything. We dodged a massive bullet getting rid of him, while also gaining two stars. Wish people would stop blaming the coaching for his pathetic efforts and lack of work ethic.

Surely the plan for Essendon is to give him a couple of games to show Sydney he's worth trading for and then to put him away again to make sure he doesn't get injured and ruin the deal.

And then demand 2 first round picks for him

I want to order one, but prefer to wait until 0-17 is confirmed so I get that engraved. Is there a risk of these selling out by then?

No worries at all! I have been ordering blank wooden spoons in bulk, so I won't be running out anytime soon.

Are you making a special gold plated edition if they go 0-17 Alyx?

Well, I do have a can of metallic gold spray paint on the workshop shelf...

At some stage the “he isn’t being played in the midfield but” group have to admit that at the second club this has happened now....

..it’s probably because of wingard. he’s likely not fit enough / working hard enough to get played there.

He's looked good every time he has played there. Second half of 2018 for us he was playing excellent football. Last 6 or so games of 2019 and first 5 or so games of 2020 for Hawthorn, he played midfield and he looked really good. Then Breust got injured, Clarkson for some reason decided Wingard was the guy he wanted to move into Breust's role, and he's been garbage ever since. Especially when they left him in that role even after Breust returned.

Wingard is just a more talented Butcher. A good talent who had some mental blocks that stopped them from hitting their potential that our club was unable to overcome. Sure, the players themselves take most of the responsibility for that, but there's a reason we've struggled to turn talented kids into elite, top tier performers long term. Chad is the only player we've developed into an All Australian drafted after 2006.

We've probably won the trade based on the Wingard currently at Hawthorn, but the bar should really be set higher than that. Wingard was once the best young player in the league.

The area between Outer Harbor and Taperoo before they built North Haven was an awesome place to muck around as a kid.

The other side of the peninsula by the river, the gas works and the ICI was also great to ride a bike around. There was good fishing from the wharves too, none of which are accessible anymore. Really miss those days.
60's too.

Are you trolling? Chad was virtually undroppable. Butcher got flicked the second Ken looked out the window and seen Sam Gray or Jake Neade or a lumbering KPD was still on the list.

Butcher was a far inferior player but it's the same principle at a lower level. High draft pick, showed some excellent signs of turning into a top tier player long term for us. Mental issues played a big part in that not happening and our club was unable to identify and address those issues in time to get the player back on track.

Also entered into evidence: Our lack of mental strength as a team; Our failure to develop a single draftee to the elite level in the last decade.

Chad and John... we didn't know how good we had it...

That all australian stat has a best before date on it i feel we will have 3 in the AA team and 2 of them will be players that will come from that post 2006 batch of players imo.
