Reading between the lines of Jlo's interview today I'm not expecting Hogan in. Sounds like he's still making him earn it.
I really hope they know what they're doing with Hogan. If they're even a little bit unsure they should be playing him. He's too costly an asset and too rare a commodity to be playing half-arsed silly buggers with. I'd say in the sprinkling of games left, where we're out of the race for the finals, it'd be a great chance to rest up Lobb and give Hogan a chance to develop some chemistry with Taberner and the midfield.

There are two ways to think about it.

1. Make him earn it, so that you can get the most out of your A Grade asset.
2. Play him to keep him happy.

I am personally am happy for him to have to earn his spot now, and also to make it clear that he will need to earn his spot next year.
Hopefully this gives him the drive to train hard, and get back to his best.

Pretty pumped that JL threw Huge's name out there for this week. Don't want us to give up on him.

Surely you can read between the lines that this is not a pure football ability/form thing with Hogan? By a wide margin our most talented KPF and not playing despite being fit.

Stay the path JL. If Hogan wants to do what is necessary he will and if he doesn't it is no loss.

I think that's were your mids have the advantage prestia edwards now lambert missing dusty will have to play more time in the midfield which robs us of a few goals

Bolton is going to be a star but dosnt habe the tank yet

I'm expecting Freo to get up on this one sincerely to I'm not being a smartarse
how much % do you think you guys might need to bank to make sure you stay above the Whinehouses? We'll see if we can oblige.

I'd give them the benefit of the doubt they know what they're doing, but from this distance it seems they're dicking around. Granted it's your idea of what's happening, but "earning it" is a pretty loose concept, I reckon there's a fair bit of conjecture over a half a dozen players as to who's earning it and who isn't that have played over the past 3 weeks or so.

I'd hope it's flawlessly crystal clear to Hogan exactly what they'd want from him to get back into the team and what his longer-term future is and how they see him in it. There's plenty to gain by sticking him in a forward line with Taberner to build some chemistry for next year and likewise getting some connection with the young midfielders.

I understand that you don't want the tail wagging the Dog but it does stick in my craw to have ordinary but hard working footballers like Crowden, Bewley and Shultz getting a game every week over someone who could be as good as Hogan.
I just hope JL's much vaunted player management skills are making the right decision.
It's all we can do from the sidelines.

Is anyone else watching Ted Lasso? JLo is our Ted Lasso. Hoping Hogan can be more Roy than Jamie.

edit - wrong thread to post this in but cbf moving it.

I'm sure Hogan would be selected in front of Crowden, Schultz and Bewley if they were playing in the same role/position.

Or if Tabs and Fyfe were ordinary hard working footballers, he'd be getting a game.

Surely it's as much about positions vacant and team balance as it is about Hogan's flaws.

Our team struggles to kick more than 50 points a game, win or lose. We have an average of 42 points over the past 7 rounds. I don't believe the team balance argument (except when it has been pelting with rain as we took the field). I think it is just about trying to pull Hogan into line. However, there has always been a level of prima dona in many of the best KFs. Could say the same of Carey, LLoyd, Fevola, Jack and Lynch, Dixon amongst many others. I just wonder how far do you push it to 'correct' his behaviour.
