FFS. If any of our current players did something like what Elijah Taylor is accused of doing, I would demand the club suspend for rest of the season, than terminate his contract (without a payout) if proven to have done such a vile act for barbaric cruelty.

We should call out those clowns who indulge in Victim Shaming. Dickheads who have an extremely naive and misguided view of Footballers and placing them upon a pedestal where they are seemingly above reproach (in their tiny minds)

I think I'd reserve judgement in this matter until there is a police report made and there is an investigation and charges laid that lead to a conviction. If found guilty I too would have no mercy on them.

You can't destroy a person's career and reputation based solely on an accusation on social media. If an accusation was all that was needed there'd be a lot of innocent people who were deemed guilty of any number of different crimes.

In the case of Carey, the whole football industry should hang it's collective head in shame at allowing him to return to a position like the one that he occupies after his disgraceful treatment of and disrespect towards women.

Every time I see him laughing it up with his blokey crew I wonder what the women he attacked must be feeling.

Don't forget sexual assaulting that woman at the Casino many years ago.

Don't forget when he was arrested for fighting with police in his hotel room on a drug bender

Glassing that woman

It serious beggars belief that he's there.

all is forgiven - he played footy.........

I just managed to watch the incident with Robbos goal for Brissy. Taken out by Maynard. He has a legitimate argument about a lack of a free, taken out from behind by that campaigner. God forebid that was a carlton bloke, thered be another free kick paid after the goal, with a 50m penalty, reports the works. Especially in our backline inside 50. They must think Robbo has 50 percent carlton left in him

About all I can say is that I hope so. Perhaps it's the fact that I had hoped, as we improved, people would need whipping boys steadily less, or that in times like these we'd just be happy to be watching footy at all.
SPS looks like Weitering did in 2017. He looks sore, he looks completely down on confidence, and he looks as though he's second guessing himself. He looks as though he's kicking himself sufficiently; I don't know he needs all that much help from us.
I also really, truly do not want to look too hard at the alternative; I could go through this website, using the search functions, and do something of a survey of the word lazy, and cross-reference how often it coincides with the target being indigenous. I could, but I get the idea that the answer to the question would be utterly depressing.

I had a quick look for you Geth.

SPS and the word lazy has been brought up three times this year and all on Thursday night and given the time listed, it must have been for the one incident.
The term lazy has also been used for McKay,McGovern, Cripps, Cuningham, Dow, Murphy on many occasions etc etc
It's also a term you seemingly have no issue using, although it hasn't been applied to SPS.

Work done for you, so what is your take?
Is there a reason you default to the position you expressed in the bolded above, or are you just imagining ghosts?

I just didn't want you to be depressed. :)

Oh, I think you've limited your study. When I made that post, I was referring to a site wide audit of every time the word lazy was used, and cross referencing every single incident, before looking at league-wide stats for percentage amounts to provide demographics.

And I'd appreciate a bit more intellectual rigour than what you're giving me credit for, Harker. You're accusing me of confirmation bias for a study I've not even done, because you don't like the idea it'd be testing for.

I really do wonder sometimes exactly how much of the SPS bullshit on this forum is sincere, how much of it is looking for someone to blame, and how much is some old bloke not liking that blackfella on his tv set.

People use words like lazy and soft, and sure he's been down. But the bloke's ridden bulls before, and been subject to tackles most of the muppets watching him haven't ever been subject to. How much of these themes are observations, and how many are reoccurring themes that always seem to crop up around players of indigenous heritage?

Here's what you said Gethelred in regards to SPS and I showed you how much when you didn't want to look yourself, but you made the assumption with - 'but I get the idea that the answer to the question would be utterly depressing'.

You had made up your mind that the answer to your question would be 'utterly depressing'
Are you seriously going to tell me this isn't what you said. It's there in black and white.

The question for you is: What drove you to this conclusion?
No need to answer because it's somewhat obvious but it's also somewhat unfair to assume the way you had.

The answer to the question asked could be depressing for a myriad of reasons, up to and including entrenched racism.

I don't like whipping boys.

The notion of you - nebulous, obscurantist Harker - accusing me of playing word games is ******* hilarious.

I had made up my mind not to look because a) the idea of doing a task that involves going through, cataloguing and documenting every post that posits a player as a whipping boy (because it's almost completely useless to look at a single term as evidence of anything) would be exhausting, and would take a ******* long time to work through, b) because (as stated) I don't like the idea of needing a whipping boy, and in doing this I'd have to isolate and read an incredible amount of bile to find it, and c) because there's every chance I'd find a correlation I don't want to find.

How's that for a more complete revealing of every single minute aspect of why I don't want to do a site wide examination of the concept of whipping boy, Harker? Do you want my spleen next time?

Is someone allowed their idle musings in the dead of night, Harker? Or do you insist on everyone going on mass deleting sprees?
The question for you is: What drove you to this conclusion?
No need to answer because it's somewhat obvious but it's also somewhat unfair to assume the way you had.
The sheer amount of irony that drips from this sentence is just...

I don't know whether to laugh, cry, raise my hands up in utter wonder. I'm in awe, Harker; believe me I am.

You are the king of making assumptions about other people and their posting, right up until someone tries to sift through the various layers and deleted posts that waft from your account and seeks to glean something from them. You delight in deliberately obscuring yourself, and use this position of complete safety to attack any position you do not like.

I'm always interested in an argument, Harker. But you don't argue. You waft in a direction, redirecting each and everything you come into contact with.

I read Jim Stynes' biography years ago, and always remembered reading the part of squaring up to Carey on the field in a game and challenging him to take him on (physically) after Carey groped that woman's breasts. Carey squirmed/backed away from Jimmy's challenge. Stynes had no time for men and players who abused/assulted women.

Aside from that, and with all his work with youth during his short but great life, there is a reason why there is a statue of Jimmy outside the MCG and there never will be one of Carey anywhere.

And while we're on the subject, HARKER, perhaps you could help me. Does every single post I make have to detail every single motive I have behind the positions I take on every single subject, or is that putting too much thought into any given post?

Do you want an essay length exploration of the depths of my mind in every post, or am I already excessively verbose enough?

I know it's a Rugba Leeg thing - but Josh Reynolds went to hell and back because his missus was making up lie after lie about him. She's just been put onto the latest #7 reality show (the one with Schapelle Corby). So I guess everything is sh*t?
Reality shows are a way to exploit people that are hungry for any sort of fame so they can ask for free stuff from businesses rather than have to work in a real job.

Going on a dating show to kiss a bloke that 30 other girls are kissing at the same time, just to lift your Instagram follower numbers has to be the saddest thing to come out of any attempt to make a TV show for "entertainment".

You are exaggerating.

He only has about 30% Carlton left in him.
