How bad is Essendon? Jeeeeeez

Last year he wanted out. This year his contract ends and still remains unsigned with two matches to play. I can’t think of a single instance where that has ended in the player staying.

Opinion is not fact, deal with it.

Right now he is an Essendon player

The game where we put about as much effort into the 2nd half as Essendon did yesterday. Any key forward would look good when the ball is coming in like that.

Plus he still can't kick for goal

Nuh your right, 3/9 marks cotested, 5/14 possessions contested. All leads to how shit Hawthorn is..

Cry me a river but any old excuse will do when it involves Essendon. We outpointed Hawthorn, grow up and accept it. You don't lead by 6 goals just because, you do it because you were better. Daniher was better again in that second half.

Essendon have one of the best lists especially when you consider the spread of quality among each age bracket. The problem is, they're funneled into playing coin-flip football that's driven by "leaders" who have no grunt whatsoever. This has been the same assessment of them for years now for a team that's rightly had higher expecations but done nothing. They need to start playing to strengths of individuals more rather than being so systematic. Rutten taking over might not be a good idea either, this season proves he's just taking over and inheriting Woosha's identification of the players and game-plan.

AT LAST !!!!!!!!!!

A NON ESSENDON SUPPORTER WITH HALF A BRAIN

We were 6 goals up because Essendon were even worse against us in the 1st half than they were yesterday. When Essendon decided to turn up our midfield fell apart. Will need more than 1 good half against 16th to show he is still among the best forwards in the game

Ive well and truly accepted we are a terrible team this season

Are you guys still trying Big Boy at fullback?

Draft compensation for what? 2 years of mediocre results?

Stop seeking handouts and trading for B grade players.

We have the longest record without winning a final. 16 years of mediocre results.

So you've made finals? Spare me.

2010 - 14th
2011- 8th
2012 - 11th
2013 - 9th (ASADA) really should have been 7th
2014 - 7th
2015 - 15th
2016 - 18th
2017 - 7th
2018 - 11th
2019 - 8th
2020 - 11th

Looks like a case of your club overachieving and trying mini-rebuilds without ever actually going for a full bottoming out. Players like Shiel, Stringer, Smith are not players you build a club around.

Devon Smith is hard and tackles like a maniac. He's the least of their problems.

I've heard this about many aspects of Essendon's current plight, which is probably why it's hard to pinpoint what exactly Essendon need to do to get better.

Other examples include:

- Dylan Shiel is the least of their problems
- McGrath over Taranto is the least of their problems
- Jake Stringer is the least of their problems
- Daniher's likely departure is the least of the problems
- Captain Heppell is the least of their problems
- Darcy Parish is the least of their problems
- Aaron Francis is the least of their problems
- Adrian Dodoro is the least of their problems

Undoubtably Smith isn't a major problem, but he's symptomatic of bigger problems at the club - namely how many smaller players they've recruited who haven't progressed beyond being B-graders.

Bit rich coming from a club who also asked for a handout. you blokes wouldn't be where you are right now if the AFL didn't intervene

As opposed to your club getting off lightly as a result of the ASADA saga? We asked for a handout because we were genuinely ignored for many seasons until the AFL took notice that there might be something going wrong in Queensland.

Essendon continue to be looked after and looks like the repercussions are coming. You are not even close to resembling how bad we were in 2015/2016.

Had our 1st and 2nd rnd picks removed which cost us getting Botempli in the draft
Were barred from playing finals after qualifying
Copped the biggest fine ever in the history of the game

Yeah but the AFL looked after us

Was a light penalty for a club-wide systematic doping regime implemented by the senior coach.

This is so spot on,

Its the constant ability to overrate their own. If everything was chugging along so well, why haven't they won a final in 5,847 days ?
