I would probably delist the perennially injured Dom Tyson also.

It's not what I would want to do, but if forced, then that's it.

I'll revisit this under the 38+2 scenario

keeping Marley and Jasper? do you not think one for experience to bring the kids along would be enough?

Which kid is going to replace Marley? Bonar & Hayden can't go with the Papley's. I suspect Bonar will move in to the midfield rotations anyway. Hayden might eventually follow also.

I'd give Jasper a year just because he deserves it, can play taller, and I have already taken Daw, Durdin & Murphy off the list.

I have mostly been for the here and now with a glance to the future, but this has to change now. I would prefer 2 of Hayden, EVW and Flynn (I am not sure what to think of Bonar just yet) to be in the back 6 with one of Jasper or Williams. and in reality how often do we play both Marley and Jasper in the same back 6, one is a backup for the other, do we need that moving forward?

I don't see Marley & Jasper as "one or the other" mate.

Jasper is probably competing for spots with EVW, and he has shown some flexibility this year.

If Williams comes then that's a whole other matter, but it also makes this thread pretty much redundant when we start giving too much emphasis to hypothetical trades.

Corr seems to be the only consistent hot topic.

Swap Daw for Pittard and take a year off of Jmac and Turner's contracts and that'd be pretty much exactly how I'd call it. EONY we re-assess a bunch of players again, hopefully after a season that at least resembles normality. Probably have KPI's for extensions for a few players as well. EVW, Walker, and Hayden come to mind.

Ultimately as long as we put ourselves in a position where we can pick and choose to turn over from another large batch of uncontracted players next year AND don't hand out 3+ year contracts like they're made of candy then I'll be pretty happy.

I think the club might pay out some contracts to keep some of younger dudes.

Turfing Tyson and Campbell is more constructive than having to choose between Williams and Pittard for instance. Agreed.

Isn't he being played out of position because he was forced out of the backline due to form? He has had some poor games in the backline this year. I thought he actually played well as a defensive forward.
I thought one game his magnet was moved to plug a hole we had with injury and it sort of work so we persisted with it for a while?
He kicked goals which was more output than the rest of the forward line.
I also conspire that they left him forward so that the young kids could see the tapes during the week and realise what the required effort is during a game regarding running patterns etc.

Pure speculation but it is possible that it then came down to a choice between playing Pittard in the forward role or getting games into Mahoney and they went with the long term option.

Pretty spot on Snake, although I have an issue with keeping all four of Williams, Macmillan, Atley and Pittard on the list beyond this year.

Unless 2 of them are happy to be purely depth players, I’d be looking at parting ways with two of them (my pick would be Pittard and Williams). Key issue from my perspective is ball use, all 4 are below average ball users, with the best being MacMillan who still leaves a lot to be desired. You could make an argument for each of them, however I’ve gone with Macmillan (better ball use then other 3, leadership) & Atley (speed, run & carry).

Just don’t think we can keep carrying all four poor ball using defenders beyond this year.
Hit the nail on the head. We need half backs that can kick, i suspect this is the gamesmanship Shaw will want. Defensive players who hold the structure but can run forward and create.

Walking Saad to the pre-season draft is maybe the best suggestion ever read on this board. The look on Dodo's face would be something to behold. It's not even out of the question- offer him good money, get him to request us, then when Dodo inevitably asks for 4 firsts tell him to GAGF o_O

Marley is a keep as he is the only small lockdown defender we got. We got enough to replace pittard.
