Jose Mourinho says in one of the recent All or Nothing episodes that the frequency at which they play goes against physiology, etc, etc. I'm sure Simpson shares those thoughts.

so we are missing Shuey, Yeo, Sheed, Redden, Cripps, Rioli, Hutchings and Jetta the first 6 are guns the next 2 are valuable role players wow

The entire starting midfield from the 2018 GF (Masten retired).

On the positive side, we've now gone a whole hour without any further injuries.

Who would have thought the human body just can't take what the AFL has dictated? We were already two thirds of the way through the season when we were hit with this unsustainable end on end cluster of 4/5 day turn arounds. And it was nice of them to reject our North game offer out of "fairness". Oh look, finals.
It might be a surprise to you, but we aren't the only team who has had a compressed fixture.

We copped the worst of it by far. To be hit 11 rounds in when wear and tear was already showing, the worst compressed fixture of anyone and we will now hit finals with a fully cooked, injured list. Basically we got bent over and shafted every way but decent because we did the right thing of agreeing to start the season in the Brisbane hub. The other issue was our home form. Those wins over Geelong and Collingwood specifically.

They got it after little more that a month of footy. We got hit 11 rounds in when wear and tear was already showing, pretty sure we got the worst compressed fixture of anyone and we will now hit finals with a fully cooked, injured list.

Other clubs are doing it as well.
We're were also not in the hub for about 2 months and
have had a good run of home games.

It's swings and roundabouts.
Unless you're the Qld and SA clubs I guess.

Some teams like the Tigers were lucky to have a decent break and play teams that have a short break leading into it.

I guess we can say we are playing the Saints with the same break in between.

What on earth are you talking about? The Vic teams particularly, Qld and SA are all on generous regimes cruising into finals.
And how many home games have the Vic sides had?
I said SA and Qld sides had it easy.

I'm sure Collingwood had something like 5 games in 16 days.
You're like a dog with a with a bone with this Vic bias stuff champ.
Just have to look at your unhinged posts in the Rioli thread.

Games played in Melbourne by Vic Clubs
Carlton: 5
Collingwood: 4
Essendon: 3
Geelong: 4
Hawthorn: 4
Melbourne: 3
North: 4
Richmond: 5
St Kilda: 5
Bulldogs: 4

West Coast had 7 home games, so 2 more than some Vic clubs, 4 more than others.
While we get a 'true' home game, it's been a pretty over-the-top compromise that we've had to make on our return to QLD.

I'm sure Collingwood had something like 5 games in 16 days.

The worst they got was 5 games in 23 days (Aug 2-24th)

Ok, how many "true" home games.
Too many still look for excuses IMO.
Like Rioli getting pulled out before the Geelong final last year costs us the game.

Having said that, our present injuries are a valid excuse.

Geelong's was pretty onerous wasn't it? Perhaps they're the exception, not the rule. They got through that period quite well.
Also theirs came mid year when the players’ bodies were not as worn so a bit more of a chance of getting through unscathed. Our guys (and everyone) would be feeling it if the breaks were normal length given the covid break messed up any sort of preseason. But on top of that they’ve been given a squeeze in the fixture at the end of the season and it was pretty inevitable what was going to happen with the soft tissue stuff. Then we also the token unlucky ones (thumb injuries) to rub it in more.

Not that it really made any difference which way around we had our condensed fixture.. if we didn’t have our home run when we did our season would have been over anyway. We just needed to get lucky during our squeeze (or get a nice long break in the middle of it.. hi Richmond 🙋🏻‍♂️) and unfortunately we didn’t.

The Richmond game was our season again, if we win that we lock away top 4 and would be able to cruise for our last few games making sure we were primed for finals with everyone available. (Shuey might not have had to play the Bombers game etc)

Simmo on SEN:

Thinks Gov could be many weeks waiting on scan.

No Yeo this week but hoping for first week of finals.

Sheed will be ready this week.

Shuey Def a starter for finals and has turned a corner and progressing well.

Redden, Hutchings & Jetta all a chance for week 1 of finals.

As good as Gov is (and dont get me wrong, I love the chunky little fella), he is replaceable. Hell, in some games you want to replace him because he cant adapt his role.

My main concern at this stage is conditioning for the guys sitting on the pine. Yeo for example is going to be seriously out of touch.

Redden. Wow.....reports were that he was dead.
