Politics Centrelink

SR on Tuesday: "We want you to come in 4:30 Thursday for an appointment."
Me: "Sorry, I've got a temp casual job driving a truck while the owner is off sick, I start at 5:30 in the morning and finish between 6 and 7pm. I work half a day on Friday, I've got all Friday afternoon free."
SR: "Well we can only see you Thursday."
Me: "Well I'm sorry, but I will be on the road. Can we make it Friday, or Friday next week?"
SR: "I'll get back to you."

SR txt Thurs 4:30: Pls call us ASAP as you missed an appt and your Centrelink payment has been suspended under the law.
Me: f*n arsebastards piece of sh*t (look for safe place to pull over)
Me at 4:37: call SR f*n arsebastards piece of sh*t
SR machine: Hi, you've called SR, our hours are 9:30 to 5:00, please call back during office hours

Yep, nothing better than cutting people off therefore creating more work when the non compliant job seeker comes in sometimes pissed off at their consultant for them not doing what they have agreed to in the first place.

That's what i dislike about Centerlink.
Their systems are broken.
They are horribly inefficient. They spend thousands of hours talking to people that they shouldn't need to, about things that should be routine.

Look at these two ******* smug campaigners. Waaah waah poor company can't compete with below-poverty-level benefits. NSW agriculture minister says people sitting at home "earning very good money" so why would they work. "Either JobKeeper and JobSeeker needs to be tweaked, so we remove that financial disincentive, or we bring in some plane loads of extra people from overseas, or we do a bit of both."

How about paying a reasonable wage first for those jobs you pieces of sh*t. God I'm annoyed.

Jobs at abbatiors in Katanning and Narrogin being advertised on Job Active, salaries less than 40,000pa.

I know people who have applied to show that they are not job snobs and have heard nothing back.

You can work as a picker packer or freight dockhand in a warehouse in the city for less hours a week with a higher wage.

It was tough for people trying to find work before the virus. Both Federal Liberal and Victoria Labor encouraged massive immigration numbers that not only made it tough to find work but also suppressed wages - unless of course you were in the public service.

The virus has exacerbated these unemployment issues. But it has also exposed the ponzi scheme of the Victorian government basing its pretend economic growth on immigration.

Katanning! Narrogin! Such global tourist hotspots that I had to Google both places just to see WTF they were!

With all the border closures, it's a wonder that all those filthy, interstate job snobs aren't flocking to physically and psychologically stressful jobs like these in their droves!

Filthy dole bludgers. If only we could all put them in camps and have them beaten to death or mauled by guard dogs or crushed by boulders. Then we can quarter them and use their body parts as dog meat!

Then, after we've ridden the country of those filthy dole bludgers, the rest of us pure, worthy, working Australians can join hands in the centre of the country and sing Kumbaya!

:drunk:

Seriously though, anyone who takes this whinging from employers seriously in the midst of the worst recession we've had since WWII needs their head read.

Does Victorian Labor give out work visas?

Been done a thousand times Bomber.

Morrison went to the COAG meeting wanting to gain the states’ co-operation in lowering Australia’s migration rate. Only Gladys Berejiklian for NSW was in favour. The state leaders are all much more concerned with grabbing their share of Federal funds.

Andrews maintains he is neutral on Melbourne's population growth whilst quietly benefiting from it by virtue of massive revenue increase. Population increase has a significant impact on people's lives yet is never a prominent election policy.

PM and states at odds as report calls for cooperation on population growth
Infrastructure Australia’s call for partnership seems likely to fall on deaf ears at governments’ meeting

I was talking to an Iranian guy maybe 5 years ago.
They were encouraged by Australia to immigrate to Australia, because both him and his wife had qualifications and experience in the Automotive industry. ( not line worker qualifications -proper qualifications ).
They were pretty peeved when they moved here and saw the state of the industry.
The guy worked as an Automotive Quality Auditor, most of his work overseas. His wife could only get work on the production line, which she took , hoping that something would come up in her speciality. Things didn't get better.

I hope they have been able to re-invent themselves, seemed like a pretty decent guy.

If they hadn't come to Australia, i think they were considering France.
The word incompetent comes to mind with their methods of choosing immigrants and how they represent opportunities.

"Yes sir, Qualifications"?
" I have a PHD in electronics, specialising in manufacturing of silicon chip processors"
"Oh good we need smart people, our electronics industry could use people like you "
.......
later.....
"Yes sir , your Sony Bravia is working as good as new. Sighs "

I thought the Iranian automotive industry was basically Saipa - which still produces it's cars using the mazda DA platform (ie. 1987 Ford Festiva)
Don't get me wrong, it's a great platform. But not sure how much of that would be applicable in a modern automotive industry.

Couldn't be worse than the Ford plant here. ( Which has clones around the world, at places like Pretoria ). They updated the factory in places, but anything that didn't need investment was left like it was in the 1960's. It was like a time warp going into some area's, such as toilets.
Platforms are more to do with investment in new tooling.

Was where she worked.
The type of work was not necessarily related to the platform. ( Often newer platforms are actually easier to assemble ).

This one was interesting , because they were manufacturing Daewoo Matiz , later owned by GM.
When GM put an embargo on Iran they stopped supplying needed components. They then became affiliated with Chinese Chery, who made their own version of the car using Modiran's tooling.
Didn't make GM happy.

It's only part time work over the summer but we really struggle to find swim instructors in regional WA every season. Last year some of ours even got cancelled because we couldn't get anybody locally or from Perth so kids missed out.

Anecdotally, my sister-in-law worked as a swim instructor. It turned out she was being paid below minimum wage.

Part-time, seasonal work that may or may not pay below minimum wage is not something you'd relocate to the regions for.

It's about $31 an hour in WA for department of education, low pay but above minimum. They also pay travel and last year added in some rather generous bonuses to travel to locations for programs with desperate shortages. I'm more talking about people that actually live out here, would be a far higher unemployment rate than average yet we can never get enough.

75% of job listings in sport are casual swim instructors. I might upskill to get some of that plentiful swim school cashola.

Figures.

Of course the private concerns (like the one employing my sister-in-law) would be a very different story.

My Son was trying to get casual work, and just turned down a job they found for him.

Amazon , working 6.00 to 9.00
6:00AM to 9:00 PM :O

Pretty sure a doctor would recommend 8 hours sleep for a guy his age.
So after commuting time, no time for breakfast and dinner i guess. Unless its muesli bars and frozen food packs at work. ( if amazon have the facilities for them ).

Reports suggest that picking at Amazon is "full on " so i guess they employ desperate people as casuals and run them until they burn out.
