Squiggle tips Demons at 77% chance -- What's your tip? -- Team line-ups »
Eagles should sniff around. Not much you'd think.
Eagles should sniff around.
Melbourne’s Angus Brayshaw won’t follow younger brothers Andrew and Hamish to WA, according to the latest trade whispers.
Brayshaw has played 95 AFL matches since being drafted by the Demons with pick three in the 2014 National Draft but remains at the centre of constant trade speculation.
His younger brothers are both in WA with Andrew making a name for himself at Fremantle while Hamish will debut for the Eagles this weekend.
AFL journalist Mitch Cleary said he couldn’t see the older Brayshaw fitting into Justin Longmuir’s midfield at Fremantle.
“This was a little bit of talk last year… (but there’s) nothing at this stage to suggest Angus would end up at the Dockers,” he said on AFL’s Trade Talk.
“I think it’s a watch this space given the Fremantle mix in that midfield.”
Cleary said given Docker Connor Blakely will likely seek a trade at the end of 2020, he doesn’t think a swap for Brayshaw is on the cards.
“I think Connor Blakely will be looking for a trade to get out if (the Dockers) can facilitate one,” he said.
“He is contracted at the Dockers for another couple of seasons but if another club comes calling, it’s hard to see them knocking that back as he’s not in Justin Longmuir’s plans as it sits right now.
“(Blakely’s) out of that Dockers team at the moment, almost a similar player to Angus Brayshaw, so if Connor Blakely can’t get a game why the need to bring in Angus Brayshaw?”
Ex-Demon Jordan Lewis says Melbourne should look to offload Brayshaw – who finished third in the 2018 Brownlow Medal count - given the midfield squeeze with Jack Viney.
“You certainly ask the question if you have got a lot of the same player,” he said on AFL Nation earlier this year.
“I think if it’s on the table, why wouldn’t you look at it? They’ve got currency. I wouldn’t trade Viney, but if they’ve got currency and you could get another player in to compliment what they’ve already got...”
There's not much on the list younger than 25 and Mark Clutchings might be finishing up.If they need a mid of his type they should.
I love how the "evidence" is basically the opinion of another journalist.Don't think this got shared to this thread. 6 days old:
Why Blakely for Brayshaw won’t happen

Gee he's fallen off the perch pretty quick.Blakely would be for a token pick I'd imagine. Would offload him to keep Luke Valente for another season.
Gee he's fallen off the perch pretty quick.
There wasn't much on offer at that stage.Lamb to the slaughter.
Others have overtaken him pretty quick. Brayshaw, Tucker Cerra, Serong are all better 2 way players imo.Gee he's fallen off the perch pretty quick.
Outside mid with pace and a good kick inside 50.What does Fremantle need?
All lines are solid enough with key players holding the structure together.
Maybe a KPD to unleash Ryan?

Yeah well these are pretty rare, don't think anyone available this year fits this description, maybe Z Williams if u want to play him on a wingOutside mid with pace and a good kick inside 50.
That’s the player I want, however, I can’t see him wanting to move west. I can see him going to Vic.Yeah well these are pretty rare, don't think anyone available this year fits this description, maybe Z Williams if u want to play him on a wing
You never know , deal might be done quietly .That’s the player I want, however, I can’t see him wanting to move west. I can see him going to Vic.
We have Hamling,Cox, Logue and Pearce as key posts down back. What does Fremantle need?

Ok.I hear that Freo have been stalking Kyron Hayden with a chequebook.
Time to do the honorable thing and declare your intentions.

There are rumours that Freo have offered him a decent contract to go home to WA. We dont want to lose him, but cant do much about it if he's keen.He is currently on the Kangaroos list, his delisting in 2018 means that he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of his contract. The same as Hughes, Dixon and North on our list.
