Idiot, he'll get no goodbyes from me. I'm sure he doesn't give a shit what I think, but he's destined for the slammer.

Would be a just reward this year to have two "interstate" teams in the GF. The AFL (and its broadcasters) would doubtless be working hard to avoid that scenario.
After the 2006 GF the AFL under Andrew Demetriou formed a task force to determine what needed to be done to ensure more Victorian teams made the finals. Very strange action from an organisation that claimed to be running a national competition.

I'll let you in on a little secret - the "interstate" teams are only there to financially prop up the VFL teams. They don't want us and don't regard us as a legitimate part of the competition. We are a necessary inconvenience.

52 wins -1 draw -14 losses though

If I'd played 68 games for Richmond, my record would look about the same.

The difference between the W/L record of Todd Marshall and the W/L record of somebody like Nathan Broad or Jason Castagna is that when Marshall goes out of the side, our record since his debut is less than 50/50. Take Broad or Castagna out of Richmond's side and their record remains basically the same. Marshall makes a tangible difference to the amount of games we win, Broad and Castagna are just average footballers who happen to be at excellent clubs.

harley bennell is the pinnacle of protected reputation vs output in my experience watching AFL. he was ****ed before going to freo and managed to stay on lists and get protected as injured and this and that through 5 entire seasons. his agent must be the best in the business.

It's no secret and the AFL doesn't even attempt to hide the fact that it still sees itself as the extended VFL. The fact that non-Victorian teams are regularly referred to as "interstate" teams by the AFL is a dead giveaway.

Nonsense! West Coast and Brisbane were brought in because the VFL had a well thought out plan for expansion to become the national league and not because 11/12 clubs were bankrupt and a bee's dick away from death.

Best 10 years of his life ... I wonder if he's talking about the footy lol.
I recall when Ken was first at Port and there were suggestions that we might bring Bennell here. When asked, Ken said that you would love to have Harley the footballer, and then changed the subject. Clearly had him pegged early on.

You tell 'em, Gill 👍

The tale of two players moved on by GCS. Bennell and Dixon.

Well he was pretty good at the whole football thing.

Had a 37 & 3 goal game, and a 38 & 4 goal game in his second year.

"Bad News" presser coming out of Crowland this afternoon apparently. KG dropped it just now, probably don't want Port to have all the attention this week!

David M'Kay knocks back a four year contract extension.

They made a mistake on Tex's trophy. He only kicked 14 goals for the year.

I remember watching him in his first year, and thought he might be the most talented raw player I'd ever seen. Pretty sure at the time I expected him to become a Brownlow medallist, and Gold Coast to become seriously scary as a result.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard?
