This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

Hagdorn reporting this morning that Connor Blakely will most likely be traded to the Gold Coast.
Fair probability to be bullshit then, let’s be fair
They have 24 and 35. Would be happy with either
If it does happen what about 24 AND 35, with 28 + Future 3rd going back. Equals pick ~45ish.

We get 10,24,35 + 350 points.

Peter Wright anyone?

Blakely for Wright plus whatever pick exchanges or upgrades pending which side of the fence you’re on.

Gold Coast get a mature body ready to go midfielder to spend time in their 2nds.

We get that much needed (apparently) forward/ ruck option depth should we have injuries to Lobb, Darcy at the same time.

Win-win?

One of Melbourne journo's tweeted Blakely to Collingwood last week. Not sure if mentioned, or true. But anyway

Handy. Delist Meek, and pick up Wright. Can’t go wrong with him. Be good for structure

Weller. A decent player, but no he was not worth the trade then or now.

Plays strongly when Gold Coast are on top otherwise is mostly fine. The expansion clubs don't value draft picks the same way other clubs do because they get so many of them. Huge cost for most clubs chump change for them.

I was harsh on Brayshaw at the start of the year, but he put together an extremely solid season. He should have a breakout year next year.

I just love a player that can tackle.

They overpaid a fair bit but given where the club was its kind of understandable. There's been far worse trades.
The trade they did with West Coast was worse.

Pick 50, West Coast Eagles’ 2018 first-round pick traded from West Coast Eagles to Gold Coast Suns for picks 21, 26, 37, Gold Coast Suns’ 2016 second-round pick.

Eaglea got a pick downgrade the following year. Incredible stuff

I think the trade was worth it for them.

Picks have never been a problem for them. Keeping & attracting players has been. And an opportunity to but a flag in the ground and bring a player to the club they had to do.

Weller is a good player and still plenty of upside. Brayshaw is good but we should have gone for the trade GC were wanting to do which ended up going to WC. We could have ended up with 2 of Oscar Allen, Tim Kelly & Liam Ryan.

Agree that the trade was worth it for GC. Disagree we should have gone for a couple of later picks.
