This is just cringeworthy.

Why not just do the intellectually honest thing and admit that you're frustrated, don't really know how to fix anything, and your position is based upon blind faith and hope?

I know I'd respect your credibility a hell of a lot more.

There's not a single poster who has tabled any rational basis to support what is going on. Not one.

Sure, they can all point and complain, and utilise whipping boys to exorcise their frustrations, but not a single one fo them has so far managed to reasonably express why this is the best option based upon x, x and x. Of course, the intellectually deceitful can all come back down the track and make disingenuous claims that they were "right", or alternatively they will just go missing or show up with a new user account.

All I can see is frustration resulting in blind faith & hope supported by zero logic. I hope that someone can eventually come along and make an attempt at adequately reasoning this position.
just chipping in here....how can we expect anyone on here to have that basis to support what’s going?
short of a confirmed delegate of the club being on here, it’s all hearsay and guesswork/opinion no?
I‘m in the dark here, as most of us are , on what the actual plan of the club is. But I’m someone who believes you let people fulfil their role they were brought in to do. We’ve been so mediocre for too long, let’s have a crack at the fences.

The slash and burn seemed to be justified by the season's outcome, but as you say, that was determined by team selections and game day tactics. But there was no outcry in the media of tanking, and apparently, no AFL investigation either. Unbelievable.

Injury had an affect of course but it seemed that every match had some unusual match up or positioning of players that just didn't fit with their capability and don't tell me that playing Poled on Cripps was being done to see if he could be converted to an inside contested beast!

I'd still be interested in hearing the compelling case for retention of any of the 11 delistees.

I would have kept Maj for his versatility and Jasper because his deficiencies are outweighed by his positives, but in both cases it's pretty marginal and their age was probably the deciding factor.

Agree with this to an extent but how many players have made the AFL due to their speed but been exposed due to their inability to actually get the ball or dispose of it correctly? I think ball magnets like Tom Mitchell and Jack Macrae have shown winning the ball outside of the contest is significantly more about having a good footy IQ and knowing where to be rather than foot speed.

Gary Rohan, Jarrod Pickett, Jarrod Garlett, Sam Blease, Kieran Harper are some names of first round draft picks that come to mind who, for the most part, failed due to their inability to win the ball or make good decisions. Rohan the best of them but he's not lived up to his draft position.

You obviously need to build a balanced side and can't totally neglect foot speed but I'm not sure there's a trait in AFL football more overrated than foot speed.

How many football IQ players have been exposed because a lack of speed? Plenty.

You seem to totally miss the point of why we need speed. We have none. If we were the Saints then I would totally agree about changing the characteristic mix but we have spent almost a decade not valuing speed and we have completely lost touch with top 4 sides as a result.

Name them. Footy IQ players RARELY fail. I'd love to see some names considering you think there are plenty.

A few Brownlow medalists alwso come to mind - Sam Mitchell, Jimmy Bartel, Matt Priddis...

Footy IQ is the highest quality in an AFL footballer. The ability to get to the right positions and make the right decisions - there's no better trait to have.

Snake comes back and we are all arguing lol

At the end of the day, the club knows more about what they’re doing than a bunch of opinionated big footy posters (including myself)
I hope to God you are right.

just as he did last year then?
As I said a few hundred pages ago all players over 30 have been told that if they want to chase a flag we would look at trading them. Every one of them will be talked about as exploring options before trade time is finished.

LOL.

You couldn't rationalize your position, and now this is just going to be an infantile exercise in reverse psychology is it?

My stated position is that I don't know what the fu** they is doing, and where they are going with this to the level that this justifies blind support, as well as the destruction of the careers of loyal and serviceable footballers.

Your lack of reasoning to support your position can only indicate that you are indeed clueless and smack bang in the middle of the "change for it's own sake" posse.

Don't waste my time like this again.

Can you please name the footballers whose careers he wrecked....

Doesn’t matter if he wants to go - just improves our leveraging.

With Brown, Higgins and Polec all supposedly on the market, I don't think we'd gain any more leverage with Goldy out there.

I hope he stays, and expect that he will.

However, the offer to the over 30s was clearly put out there, so internally there is clearly a view that they're not in the future plans, and therefore we won't hold them to us.

Could make a case for jmac if Polec is moved on.

Don't have any real problems with the 11 getting cut in general.

If you're going to knife some soldiers then there needs to be a legitimate reason, and you can't table anything other than a hunch based upon your personal frustrations to support your position.

Psicosis posts 80% drivel, and you're not going far if he's your only choice as a bedfellow.
I get it snake, you’re disappointed our players are gone but hold fire. The chances that those players were going to become the club’s saviours was zero. When players like German, Larkin, Glandening were ushered out or traded there was the equivalent angst but it payed off in spades. Perhaps this is the start of something, the new regime will live or die by the sword and I’m all for it.

So Goldy shopping around now according to reports.

Barrett:
“I expect Goldy to open his mind up to the possibilities that were around last year.”

Doesn’t sound like Goldy shopping himself, more like a journalist giving an opinion based off nothing.

It'll be JMac, Pittard and Williams that have riled him up. If you remember back to 2017 Tef thought it was criminally unfair that Tiges won the flag with four A graders and 18 spuds, while the best we'd ever got was a couple of preliminary spankings.
