Not the lady friend.
PM me and I can set you up with a social membership and all the (post-match) beer you can drink (for a price). Could even get you a special on Ma Tobin's relish at the canteen.

thanks for the offer Red Gum - what's the deal with post-match beers? Is it true that the ammos still don't serve whilst the two matches are being played?

Two quick things :

1) results look like they had a little too much run in the legs ( and they look a young yet not too tall team - may have relied on leg spped?)

2) Did a guy with limited hair name Sharpe (?) play for Bentleigh? He used to be an unassuming type , great set of hands and a very good left foot kick. Didn't mind a bit of tough stuff either for memory. Good country fella.

Didn't see the game Champ but I know Sharp played. Kicked 100+ goals last season and word is he is going around again this season for Bentleigh. May have a score to settle with SMD in D2. Word out of the Demons is that Sharpy is looking for a rug for his follicly challeged nut.

Scraping dobermans is one thing Barry - but winding up the old fella about his 3KZ is another !!!

100+ that's a great effort. and no total discredit to the backmen in the comp too - he could play in his day. But having had a beer with him in the past - i would imagine he would trade that for the cup in a flash.

No doubt Champ, seems South have done it to him twice, D4 in 2000 and last year. Not positive he played in the 2000 GF maybe you could fill me in.

As a defender I'll use every personal insult against a forward known to man to get him off his game. Unfortunately when they are the calibre of Chris Sharp you often get burnt.

Pretty sure that there was a pretty strong wind favouring one end. Souths were with it in the second and fourth.

Not sure about 2000 - maybe he was in Ballarat? I am pretty sure their is a conection there somewhere.

Yep - defenders get the 'one mistake rule' - one around the goals and you are most likely to pay big time. And this guy could make you pay.

That's right. Makes it family friendly

No problem with that actually - have witnessed the ugly side of ' 3 can stans' at a couple of local comps. Not saying all are like this, but it probably limits the opportunity of problems.

It does have an adverse effect I suppose in terms of helping clubs stay financially viable though, as 100 -300% made on alcohol is a nice money spinner. pros and cons !!

You might want to check back over the previous pages of this thread. With news of the merger there was a swell of excitment in our leafy eastern suburbs. Seems some Kew supporters are counting their chickens. Sparked a whole D3 Vs SDFL slanging match.[/

Red Gum, only Kew people to my knowlegde on this thread are Crazy bear, turbs23 and myself. Not one has mentioned finals. We will have to improve at least 12 - 15 goals to be up with WB, OW and Elsternwick from 06".

Oldtimer, it's a fair point you make if you three ( Crazy bear and Turbs23) are the only people with actual involvement at the Kew club. I think if we hear anything about Kew we should direct it back to you guys - and that way we will know the real deal.

By the way - do you think with the way you guys are training, and new players, that you could improve by those margins suggested below?

Training has been good, plenty of numbers. Had a scratch match last night which was promising. At the moment we would be looking at having at least 10 - 12 new guys in the seniors in Round 1 from Round 18 last year. Again no idea how we will shape up until Practice Matches begin.

That sounds promising for the Kew crew. Good numbers are one thing, but potential to up your depth is very important. I also agree that many new recruits can look like brownlow winners in feb/march , but get sorted out during the season when they hit 'real games' and wet conditions ( maybe).

When is your first practice match ? and who have you lined up?

We are playing West Brunswick on the 17th March.

That might give you guys some idea as to how you are travelling. even though it's a practice match and some people are not available for different reasons - it will be a good hit out for both clubs.

Two of the pre-season favourites ( so the talk has been on this forum ) to see how each other is travelling. Good luck to both teams.

Not too sure about Kew being touted preseason favs... seems most ppl have opted for WB, LaTrobe or Elsternwick in early posts. I would agree that a lot of recent discussion has been around Kew due to the merger etc., but not much premiership talk from actual Kew members. Most sides (and some vafa scribes) tend to talk themselves down and other sides up to detract attention for one reason or another.
I agree with you though that practice matches will give some sort of speculation of form but it's not until the season that we'll get any clear indication. Until then let's speculate away... My tips: WB v LaTrobe in GF.. and Hawthorn and OW for the slide.:D

That's a big call Turbo. Those words may come back to haunt you during the season...... perhaps more than once.

Is the overweight FF who tackles blokes late instead of going for the ball playing for you blokes this year?
