The Murdoch gutter rag is still not giving the Brisbane Lions match much of a go 9 x RU/RL stories to 2 x AFL go figure!Maybe the sports editor hates Australian Football?
It surprising beause Murdoch makes money out of having the AFL on Foxtel and usually cross promotes!

Capacity will be 40K?
Most tickets are $350+. Queenslanders won’t be used to paying that for a sporting event. More than double SOO.
It will sell out. It’s 30,000 capacity, and 14,000 of those are already sold (corporates/AFL finals series tickets/other packages). So there’s 16,000 tickets left for member and the general public. 6,000 of those will go to members and the other 10,000 will sell real quick even with the high prices

Great ratings again!
Its going to be intestring to see how an all Victorian GF goes ratings wise. The last one was 2011 won by Geelong!

Killed the NRL again with more than double the numbers for the Capital cities 1.146 Million to 548,000 also 165,000 in Brisbane is excellent.

AFL outrated the NRL in Brisbane!

This is like the Storm outrating a non-vic AFL final in Melbourne

People have such short memories.
The Brisbane Lions outdrew the Brisbane Broncos for SIX YEARS during their three peat era.
The QAFL and affiliated leagues has always been significant in the Queensland background.
In the 1980s the QAFL was the retirement home for big name VFL coaches
and the game has only grown in Queensland despite the lack of AFL team success.
Add the effects of AFLW and 'AFL' in Qld is in a healthy state.

It's not a 'sporting event' it's the AFL grand final.
The S.O.O. is a yearly three game event between the same two teams held in the same old venues.
This is probably the ONLY chance people will get to see an AFL grand final in at the Gabba.

The biggest event in Australia too.

The S.O.O is no real comparison. Every third S.O.O doesn’t even fill Lang Park

MCC members had a ballot on Thursday, I understand Qld based AFL members will today? Than you have QCC, Gabba Trust and corporates.

There will be bugger all tickets for Richmond (4K in Qld) and Geel (1.7k in Qld) members let alone theatre goers
There are 8100 tickets for each of Geelong and Richmond members. So unless they allow two tickets per membership, there will be at least 6k tickets for the general public. Probably more as not everyone will bring their kids at $300 a pop.

I hope there is at least 1 ticket for me

It's not just Queensland members that will be eligible. People from most other states can travel to Queensland.

While NRL is more popular up here, Brisbane people are bandwagoners first and foremost.

Hell people even cared about the Queensland Reds when they were doing well.

Better to have bandwaggoners than very few people watching like the NRL in Adelaide,Melbourne and Perth (53,000 in total) from a total population of 9 Million for those 3 cities!
