I'm not sure if this has any relevance/connection but I noticed Marsha Johnson was murdered on a Monday 1997, Gerard Ross on a Tuesday 1997 and Julie Cutler 1988 vanished in the AM on a Monday.

These unsolved crimes may have no connection whatsoever but .. they're all along the coastline from Cottesloe to Rockingham when the Edwards holidayed on weekends at Madora Bay.

I guess police would be checking on his RDOs if he got those and holidays.

Good pick up Kurve,

I had forgotten about Marsha Johnson. Yes you would think they'd be examined again. I hadn't thought about the rostered days off and at the time, you can bet the RDO was guaranteed. They were one day a fortnight - some people had them on a Friday.

I wonder if the RDOs were indicated on the payroll records. Telstra probably still have payroll records, I think they were accessed for the CSK trial.

Just going through the spreadsheet and I thought I would fill in a gap.

A man named Dennis Ian Bell was found guilty of the manslaughter of Jennifer Wilby. After she was at the nightclub they went back to a party at his place, took drugs, and at some point he injected her with more drugs (apparently at her request). Her remains were found at Karragullen by a couple of bushwalkers.

Many thanks I'll update the information.

I have another name for the list: Roslyn Watson, murdered in Leederville 29 January 1986, by Alexander Ronald Mackenzie.

Roslyn was a sex worker who went to an escort booking at the house in Leederville. I don’t believe this was Mackenzie’s house - IIRC it was a house he had inspected and knew was empty. She was brutally stabbed and left. She called in to the agency when she arrived, but was not checked on after the time was up when she failed to call out. The agency worker handling the call had fallen asleep and it was unfortunately several hours before she attempted to track Roslyn down and raised the alarm.

Mackenzie had also attacked a sex worker in Fremantle a couple of years prior. Even though his ex wife had named him as the person who killed Roslyn, he was not arrested until 2001 when improvements in technology allowed new information to be gleaned from the forensics.

Not all the information here is in the article. Some of it I know from speaking to the agency worker from that night, who I met when I was in Perth. She had never forgiven herself and had since devoted her life to helping sex workers work safely.

Not that there is any rush, LAM, but I was checking your spreadsheet (truly an amazing reference I cannot thank you for enough) and it occurred to me that you might like to update Jane and Ciara’s entries. They are no longer presumed victims of the CSK; they were murdered by Bradley Edwards! (I just feel like it’s nice that we can fill in the gaps of something after 25 years and you might like the pleasure of doing that.)

I've updated the spreadsheet and uploaded it again. Please let me know if there's any additions, errors etc. It needs to be correct.

With regard to Lisa Mott aged 12, who went missing from Collie WA in 1980. During the 1980s Collie had many men working within the area, such as Mujah power station and Worsley Alumina factory. A couple of colts had established themselves in the south-west too. The Orange people resided in Margaret River, and I'm not sure where the Bagwon lived.

There weren't any other abduction/murders of young girls around that time. Though, prior to Lisa there were other murders in WA. Interesting those killings went quiet after Lisa, perhaps the perpetrator went to another state or served prison time. Whilst preparing the spreadsheet I noticed a couple of perpetrators absconded to another state, then were apprehended after performing another murder.

Below are murders between 1977 and 1980 - during 1979 and 1980 five females (aged 12 to 22) and another aged 26. It would seem WA had a serial killer then too. For those external to Perth, indicated in purple are areas in Perth's south.

I am pretty confident that Pauline Walter was a sex worker. (For those of you who have not seen some of my posts in the CSK thread, I am a former sex worker.)

According to the information on the case she hitchhiked from Darwin to Port Hedland where she worked for 2-3 weeks before flying to Perth. Many sex workers have done stints in Port Hedland over the years, myself included. The timeframe of work is right, as is the change in financial circumstances. They are careful not to categorise her work, which fits as well in terms of the era when this was being reported.

She may therefore have been working as a sex worker in Perth, at least initially before she found other work.

I don’t know how useful that information might prove to be, but if there were other murders of sex workers around that time there may be a link, or it may have just made her easier prey for a violent killer. There were a few violent killers who fit the bill in later years, but all except one would have been too young in 1980: Donald Morey, who I think would have been in his mid 20s or so.

Morey was convicted of attempted murder of a sex worker, along with being the prime suspect in the murder of another, Darylyn Ugle, and almost certainly responsible for the death of Sarah McMahon.

Good point,
I noticed the RDO was mentioned amongst the payroll information. Yet, it might not state what day in particular was taken off.

During Aug 1987 Ursula Barwick, who’d just turned 17, was dropped off at the Tuggerah train on the Central Coast, bound for Sydney NSW. Ursula had told family she had a job in Sydney. Ursula’s father Peter had given her some cash to get settled, with intentions of travelling to Sydney that weekend with his wife Elizabeth to drop off some linen and other essentials.

Alas, unbeknown to the family Ursula died in a car crash (27 Oct 1987). Three newfound friends were in the car, Mark became a paraplegic, Hans went to prison for stealing the car and Robert was charged with reckless driving causing death.

At the morgue Ursula was known as Jessica Pearce. As no one claimed Ursula’s body she remained at the morgue for 15-months. Eventually Ursula was buried at Emu Plains Cemetery under the name of "Jessica Pearce" in an unmarked pauper's grave. Obviously, none of the family attended the funeral.

Late spring 1987 - Peter reported Ursula missing to the police headquarters in Sydney. Peter began a search in Sydney. Searching and making various inquiries including the brothels at Kings Cross. The family assumed something sinister had happened.

(28 years passed). In 2015 Ursula was the face of the NSW Missing Persons Week campaign. The description was incorrect, such as hair and eye-colour, and the date last seen. The family made umpteen attempts to have the information corrected but the request was refused. As Ursula’s hair and eye colour were depicted incorrectly it made it impossible for Ursula’s friends, the other car crash victims to realize the person they knew as Jessica Pearce was actually Ursula Barwick.

During the missing persons campaign, one of the NSWs senior Constable’s named Marsh twigged that Ursula and Jessica were the same person. Five years beforehand he’d worked on an operation at the Missing Persons Unit, comparing long-term missing person cases with unidentified remains. Whilst reviewing a file about a young female car crash victim, he noticed similarities with Ursula's case, especially when he compared the photographs. Senior Constable Marsh tried to confirm the victim's identity. She'd been named as "Jessica Pearce" by a friend who saw the body at the morgue, but Marsh couldn't find any trace of this mystery friend.

Morgue’s are usually managed by the Health Dept and police come under a completely different department, back then, both departments didn’t necessarily communicate with one another. Presumably they do nowadays.

An inquest to officially identify the car crash victim "Jessica" as Ursula Dianne Barwick was held in December 2018.

With regard to men who have become serial killers. These days through media articles, books etc, we’ve become aware that some of these vile creatures were known to obtain women’s underwear from clotheslines and dress in women’s clothing. I want to make it very clear I’m not making reference to men who simply wish to cross dress or have some kind of fetish.

Australia’s Derek Percy was sentenced for killing a young girl and thought to have been responsible for the abductions, torture and murders of up to eight children – some of them the most notorious cases in Australian History.

Derek Percy was known to dress in women’s clothing. On occasions women’s underwear began disappearing from town clothes lines, the rumour was that teenage Derek was “snowdropping” as was the term for theft of that nature. Two of Derek Percy’s fellow students from Mount Beauty High School found him at a swimming hole wearing a woman’s negligee and knickers.

Please know prior to reading the article titled 15 Terrifying Photos of Serial killers …. it’s quite disturbing.

In Aug 2010 ACT Police sought assistance from the public to help identify a man who they believed to have been responsible for a number of indecent acts committed over a six-month period to an adult woman and two teenagers (male & female). The offender described as a Caucasian male, would now be aged in his mid-30s to early 40s, between 165cm (5’5”) and 170cm (5’7”) tall. Prior to the indecent exposure he had engaged in conversation, and all three were told he’d been at a cross dressing party. The incidents occurred within the ACT suburbs of Phillip, Rivett and Holder. The suspect wore women’s clothing such as a knee length coat which covered lingerie and high heeled shoes. One of the incidents he wore a blond shoulder-length wig. He drove a late-model silver coloured BMW.

These offences were alarming and should raise a huge red flag for the police and public. I doubt the suspect had been at any cross-dressing parties, and I also think he started wearing a wig to try and disguise himself. The police know he was driving a silver coloured BMW, which should have helped narrow down their list of suspects. This fellow needs to be located so the police can keep a very close eye on him!

Police believed the three incidents were related and appealed for anyone else who may have come into contact with this man or who can assist police with the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Well done LAM! Great informative spread sheet. I had not heard of Veronica Lockyer. After reading up on her from Google, it made me really sad to think that in 20 years none of her family missed her and thus did not report her missing, all thinking some one else was in contact with her. Maybe I'm taking this the wrong way as I don't know the family situation, but it makes me wonder if she (Veronica) felt unimportant? Many families, unfortunately, are very disjointed for various reasons and this is how both adults and children fall between the cracks. Maybe I am overreacting as I haven't seen my daughter (who has issues and is not talking to me again) and granddaughter for just over a week and I'm worried sick and about to storm their house to make sure they are ok.
That was very similar to the Karlie Pearce-Stevenson and Khandalyce Pearce murders, no one realised that Karlie had been missing for a long time. Thank goodness the truth finally came out and the killer was caught but with the Veronica Lockyer being in similar circumstances, Re: not knowing they were missing, how do we know how many others out there are the same.
This new thread will be something to delve into that sort of murder..
If that makes sense!

In the case of Lisa Mott, I think David Birnie has got to be the prime suspect. He had access to a yellow panel van. As far as I can gather, the only reason he wasn’t looked upon as the prime suspect is because his ex wife gave him an alibi. While I don’t think she in any way intended to protect him, I think she could have been mistaken about the dates.
I'm not proud of the fact and it's not something I would usually mention but back in the days of the Birnies killing sprees my ex husband and I were drinking buddies with both of them. Quite often we would do a Sunday Session at the Carlisle hotel in Perth and they would be at our table. You would never in a month of Sundays think these two were as evil as they were.
My ex and I were so shocked when we picked up the paper one morning and there they were, evil personified!!

They fooled a lot of people Deni. It's hard to pick, especially when it's a couple.

Deni,
How interesting, do you know what type of vehicle they drove?

Added: One of the suspected victims named Barbara Western was known to drink at Irene's Park Tavern. You might remember that was the Tavern on Albany Hwy with brown bricks near to Hillview Terrace.

You're absolutely right, there probably are many people missing and/or murdered who have not been reported due to these types of circumstances.

so sorry to hear you were in such an awful situation to realize your pals were horrible murders!! It must have been shocking. But its often the case that these people blend into society and no one has any inkling of what they have to been up to! Just look at the Claremont Serial Killer, he was a pillar of the community, volunteering at the local kids athletics club, awarded for his volunteering with a big pic in the paper of him receiving the award!! He held a reputable job, dealing with the public and was even promoted shortly after one of his first know assaults!! He was leading quite a public life but not one person ( that we so far know of) suspected he was a serial killer!!!!!
