Can you change the title? It's gonna annoy my grammar brain lol *board not bored
I agree though. Apparantely the board is pull of eddie's mates, and its why they won't move him on. Its a boys club even on the board. Need some fresh perspectives.
I cant believe there are not enough very successfull businessmen & women among our 75,000 members and a huge supporter base to put together a Ticket to run against the Board.
I would certainly vote for change, if ever we would given an alternative.
How did we, the Members, let it get to this?
Did you know Collingwood supporters make up the third most MCC members and the most AFL members? Can’t believe we have 75k members only compared to WCE & Tigers over 100k, that’s says it all.
I actually worked closely with Holgate many years ago and she was an outstanding leader although not surprised about what’s come out given her wealth and zest for the finer things in life & the other thing

Americans get the President they deserve. That’s nothing compared to the two geriatric candidates running for US presidency out of 320 million people.

Glad you raised you raised the grammar issue. This Board / Site is full of grammar issues.
Cheers.
So does every nation. America bashing is rife. Where are all these inspiring, brilliant world leaders? The yanks do a fair job of being a superpower when they are all apparently so stupid and led by even dumber leaders. Doesn't say much for the rest of us!Americans get the President they deserve.
The problem with politicians here is, we have plenty of them who want to be Prime Minister, but none who want to actually lead.So does every nation. America bashing is rife. He's more comparabe to Trump, in my opinion.Well look at the Pies under Eddie and then the Tigers. Eddie has failed big time where it matters, on the field. I do not cheer for beds for the homeless or the other non footy related crap he goes on with.
You watch Carlton and Essendon will eventually recover and win multiple flags whilst good old Ed just chugs along being woke and shooting his big mouth off. He and Dan Andrews would get along well.

I'm not sure you can blame Eddie for all of it. He wasnt there in the 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s
And he must be doing something right to be re-elected year after year, without having to even go to the membership for a vote.
I am not talking about any time outside his reign. The simple fact is he has delivered one flag. Richmond have 2 and maybe 3 in a day's time. They were an utter basket case. So they will do more in 5 years than Eddie has been able to do in 20. Bench mark him against the other clubs, not many he beats.
1. The Richmond "challenge" - 2016?? - fell over before it really started. As I said, i'm not sure you can blame eddie for all of it or whether even he is strong enough to overcome collingwood history.
If you throw a problem at someone and plead for him to fix it and then give them absolute power by allowing them to fill the board with anyone they want.... and you never take an opportunity to even have a vote for a position on the board...
....and you whine about Eddie needing to move on... no wonder he treats us like children.
As for Richmond, at least they managed to cobble together a group of people who challenged their Board a few years ago. We have ^ managed to get anyone to even nominate.
Yes, it's time to move on the Collingwood Board. We've had a multitude of calls for Eddie to move on, but I think it's more obvious that other members of the board should be ditched and fresh blood bought in.
So you say, why bother because Eddie is the board. Well in reality, that's correct. I doubt that he does no more than brief them of the decisions that he has already made. However, you will never get a broader range of ideas into the club if you dont get new people in who are independent of Eddie and havent been on the board for 20 years.
And Yes, there are people who have been on the board since Eddie was voted in. The only changes over the years have been to junior members of the board. People like Alex Waislitz and Mark Korda have been with Eddie for the full journey.
I called for these people to be moved on years ago, and then we had an inquiry and a recommendation that board members should be changed regularly, as they are in the corporate sector. Eddie rejected that. They have been "elected" unopposed during their whole tenure. Democracy at work.
Waislitz promised $5m to the Pies years ago. In fact, I think it was 2 cheques for that amount. I've never seen it in annual reports. He's promised millions to charity too, and so far has only delivered billions to himself.
Korda is a liquidator....geez.... how uplifting is that. A true mate of Ed and re-elected unopposed with Ed earlier this year.
Christine Holgate... token woman.... token pommie tourist who came to Australia and fell in love with Collingwood.....(excuse me while I barf).... Now we find out that she is giving away $12m watches to her workmates at Australia Post. Fine example for the working man's club, Christine. Thank you.
Paul Licuria...ex player. Good to see an ex player on the board. A family member met him last year, while he was doing some research for a start-up company. In other words, he's not in the same stratosphere as Alex, Mark and Eddie. They probably let him make the tea.PLAYERCARDSTARTPaul Licuria

Peter Murphy....who works for Waislitz.... let's just keep it in the family.
Jodie Sizer.... who is overseeing the Lumumba matter with Murphy while Ed takes care of the rest of the club...fair split of responsibilities.
I've been told before that the board doesnt matter. That they have no impact on the culture of the club. That it's more important to move along an assistant coach who has been in the position too long, than it is to move along a board member who has been overseeing the performance of the club for 20 years. Strangely, that argument hasn't persuaded me.
So we find out today that Christine is a dud. Even Scomo doesnt think much of her.
But we're going to go blindly on, allowing Ed to continue to put his business mates on the board and have them "elected" unopposed.
btw. I'm a Collingwood member. I get inundated with a thousand emails about all things collingwood. But i dont remember seeing one about Korda being elected unopposed. Not one. Maybe I need to get twitter.
1. The Richmond "challenge" - 2016?? - fell over before it really started.
2. Have it on excellent authority that Ed has strongly discouraged / talked out of nominating people who put their hand up for a Board position.
Fresh blood please.
when you bluster & gabble and have trouble being succinct, you're likely to miss the pointThis is why people want to cuddle Eddie and get onto the bored of the Collingwood footy club

Eddie McGuire fires up over Christine Holgate scandal
Scott Morrison and Eddie McGuire have clashed over the fate of the Australia Post CEO with the Prime Minister warning he made no apologies for putting “a rocket” up government-owned boards.www.news.com.au
“It’s not like she was actually sticking their money in their own pocket; she was actually doing it too, to lift people around her,” he said.
In typical Ed fashion, he talks a lot but ignores the fact that she used the funds of a public corporation to buy expensive watches for those around her. ;
Let me give you an example, ordinary public servants working in a clerical position cant take a second job selling newspapers because it is seen as a possible conflict of interest. Even though there is no sense to it.
But people in authority are used to doing what they want. Christine is one of those. Ed is too. They see themselves as so valuable, so irreplaceable that the ordinary folk should accept that their masters spend a little of their money when they see fit.
I wondered yesterday what Eddie's response would be. I didnt expect him to choose Christine ahead of the Pies in such a total way.
I wonder if Christine Holgate was the one who locked in the Tag Heuer contract?
