Yeah I mentioned we would have to go into 2022 first round deficit, so effectively Nick will cost us 2 firsts if that happens.
That would be worst case. I have a feeling that we’ll likely be pushing for future picks on any players (barring Treloar) we trade this year though, and there’s always next years trade period to address that issue too.

Just realised Schache is not related to Schade, remember that day he owned Buddy..good times.

Didn't Buddy kick like 5 points that game? Schade was very lucky Buddy wasn't kicking straight.

Im 100% down to trade cox. I just think he’s far to 1 dimensional and we have to alter our forward line far to much to suit him. Unless balls kicked on his head, he can’t have any impact. Ball hits deck? He’s out. no pressure, nothing. Intercept markers dream. He can’t for example close 30m quick to get to a contest and bring ball to ground. We need a mobile replacement. Whilst he’s also an accurate kick, We need someone capable of kicking 50m. To many of our forwards are incapable of this.
But we need him minimal twice a year (vs Tigers) 😳

It's laughable this board has legitimate optimism for guys like Tex, 2MP, Gunston, Brown, Hogan, McCarthy etc.

Meanwhile Lynch - Richmond, Cameron - Geelong.

This is what this club has come to.

Cue in the usual 'at least we're in better shape than insert club name here'

Sad, hilarious and frustrating all rolled into one. Good times!
It’s laughable that you’d regard Gunston as a bad pick up. The guy has kicked more goals than all our forwards combined, kicked 2 a game this year in a shit side, is durable and flexible where he plays. Honestly, people like you are never satisfied unless we land the ‘big name’ every year, which is impossible....

Lynch was a balls up caused by the decision on Balme. But its history now.

We were never in the running for Cameron. Geelong can offer lifestyle advantages for a guy with Camerons interests and a proximity to family we couldn't compete with.

So accepting this, how do you suggest we address key forward?

Why say WANT when he Runs the Club?
Because he has no control over what Treloar wants to do. If he says categorically that AT is staying and then Adam requests a trade to the Suns, he’d look fairly foolish, no?

If round 1 next year we line up at the first centre stoppage with Adams, Pendles and Treloar/Elliott, I'm going to break my TV. You watch last night, how dynamic centre bounce stoppages are. The movement. The ruckman just hit the ball into space and the mids run into it. Richmond kick it off the deck so many times, then there's a race to the ball somewhere out on the wing. Thinking back to us, there's literally no movement, we're just standing flat footed. Get some ****ing new faces in for centre bounces otherwise we're not going anywhere.

I'd honestly give up a 1st round pick for Gus Brayshaw. We are that bloody desperate. Was taken 3rd in the draft, finished top 2 in Brownlow, now finds himself out of centre bounces because the Dees have 3 of the best in the comp (Viney, Oliver, Trac). He's still only 24. Get it done.

Grundy (hopefully improved after a long rest)
Adams (give him the captaincy)
Gus Brayshaw
De Goey

Treloar on one wing (unless of course he goes, then Pendles can just play Mayne's slow/defensive wing role (or Sidey plays))
Daicos on the other

Pendles starts as a high half forward or on the bench. Need to use his brain, decision making and kicking from here on, can't rely on him to carry our midfield

:runner:💨

Toby McLean is out of action with a ruptured ACL that happened back in September and it looked like a nasty one too.

He’d be back in 12 months... maybe in time for 2021 finals... and we’d have ourselves a good 5 year player.

Doubt the Dogs offer him up as part of a pick swap for our 2020 1st... but if they did I’d be keen. Can play anywhere on the field.

Outside of KPP there is a lot of competition for minutes at the Dogs. Some decent players on their list like McLean and Dale that would slot in nicely at other teams

If he’s good enough, you wouldn’t ultimately lose sleep over that. I mean, wouldn’t you rather we packaged #6 and #10 in 2014 for the pick that landed the Bont?

We just need to get some serious quality through the door. Our “stars” aren’t as good as the stars of the other top echelon of teams, or they were but are now in decline.

When I listen to interviews with recruiters is seems one of the top things they look for in a key position prospect is competitiveness. You want a competitive beast with your big guys and all the good ones have it. Schache doesn't tick the box for mine. Also I reckon we need more campaigner in our side. We are just too nice. I want us to be like all the reasons I hate Richmond for, becuase it gets results.

S***
what does swany and dusty comparisons have to with our trade period ????
Can people please stay on topic or mods get control of this thread

Report issues, we don't read every post.

Please stay on topic legends! :thumbsu:

I find it more laughable how posters are so obsessed with the big fish other teams land that were never coming to us anyway.

Meanwhile for some reason the focus doesn't extend to the role players, like the names above, who also have made substantial contribution to said team's success.

It's like getting upset that you only won 500 bucks on a Powerball ticket because your neighbour won the jackpot.

That’s not necessarily true. If reports are to be believed, StKilda and Adelaide are currently brokering a deal that would see their offer to Crouch increased in order for Adelaide receive pick 2.

I wouldn't be putting much stock in that particular report, which if I recall correctly involved St Kilda trading a couple of players to Adelaide for late picks as part of the overall deal to help Adelaide get pick 2 for Crouch. The idea that they'd put him on $800k+ per year over the duration of his contract (probably $150-$200k per year overs) just to get Adelaide pick 2 doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I'm guessing the AFL committee responsible for deciding on FA compo may take a very dim view of such a blatant attempt to undermine the compo system, especially given it is firmly in the gun anyway.

I take more stock in the report that the Crouch contract is well short of $700k personally, but I guess we'll see how it all plays out over the next few weeks.

Agree with this 100%. I rate Brayshaw and think he'd be a great pickup. Adams, Brayshaw and Degoey in the middle would give us solid ball winning ability and drive.

We just need someone to replace DeGoey up forward. If we can somehow score Brayshaw, Gunston and Dale whilst keeping DeGoey and Treloar that would go a long way to fixing our deficiencies.

Yes, but he missed those shots because we aggressively traded for a kick-ass KPB that rattled him, hopefully Schache goves us that same on field presence we are seeking.

I forgot just how terrifying Schade was :tearsofjoy:We get Schache defences will be shaking in their boots.

Yeah but I reckon Gunston's no chance. Just won their B&F, he'll cost a lot. We'll only be able to afford 1 of Brayshaw or Gunston, especially so if we're not losing Treloar or De Goey

I'd be pretty happy if we can:

Retain: Treloar, De Goey, Checkers
Lose: Phillips, WHE
Gain: Wright, Brayshaw

Sidey can play as a small forward, Stevo hopefully returns to past form, Kelly/Ruscoe get games and continue to improve

Like I said it looked like a really nasty one so I'd have doubts about whether he'd make it back before finals and a mid-to-late September return to football would almost certainly rule him out of any games at AFL level in 2021.

I'd also be fundamentally against trading in anyone who will miss their entire first year at the club due to serious injury.

Big blokes are always better when they're a little nasty.

When Hawkins or Tom Lynch are steaming through defenders shit themselves because they're worried about copping an elbow to the face
