It’s laughable that you’d regard Gunston as a bad pick up. The guy has kicked more goals than all our forwards combined, kicked 2 a game this year in a sh*t side, is durable and flexible where he plays. Honestly, people like you are never satisfied unless we land the ‘big name’ every year, which is impossible....

Yeah maybe Gunston was a bad example, still not in the league of Lynch and Cameron but universes better than what we got at the moment, which is kinda the point.
Lynch was a balls up caused by the decision on Balme. But its history now.

We were never in the running for Cameron. Geelong can offer lifestyle advantages for a guy with Camerons interests and a proximity to family we couldn't compete with.

So accepting this, how do you suggest we address key forward?

How do we address it? I don't think we can apart from develop Kelly and develop a better game style, the latter of which looks increasingly unlikely.

I find it more laughable how posters are so obsessed with the big fish other teams land that were never coming to us anyway.

Meanwhile for some reason the focus doesn't extend to the role players, like the names above, who also have made substantial contribution to said team's success.

It's like getting upset that you only won 500 bucks on a Powerball ticket because your neighbour won the jackpot.

That last sentence is kinda the point, while the tigas go on a merry flag spree we're scraping the barrel as far as list upgrade goes.

It's a competition, the name of the game is be better than your competition.

De Goey has Martin like qualities, but gosh I wish we would stop comparing. Dusty is literally going to go down as one of the greatest players of all time, and will probably be talked about in the company of Leigh Matthews as a player.

For me, Jordy really needs to develop his midfield game. He is a dangerous forward, but an inconsistent one. He takes his game to the next level if he can split his time in the midfield and win big clearances.

He needs to put a power of running in over off season so he can run out a game in the midfield. He should be comparing himself more to Petracca who was able to make the transition this year.

Whilst he is a dominant forward at times, I dont think he takes the next step as a Magpie playing that role permanently. Mainly because we are desperate for a stoppage bull...and our forwards are always going to struggle until we improve our midfield.

As many posters have pointed out, drafting KPF is not what its cracked up to be - failure rate is very high.
Without checking any stats, I’d be surprised if the failure rate for first round KPF’s is substantially higher than first round picks in general. It would be interesting to know.

It’s holding him to a high standard isn’t it.
I think all of us, and JDG himself, would like to see him play midfield 75% of the time and develop as a stoppage bull.

Oh, so you’re one of those guys who doesn’t learn from past mistakes I guess.
You often have to pay a premium...I would hardly say they’re are untried. You would have to be one of the more tedious people I’ve come across on here...or maybe you’re just a bot.

Jordan Lewis just gave some insight into Gunstan and Isaac Smith.

Believes Gunstan will stay but Smith definitely exploring options and endorsed the move as he enjoyed the change of environment late in his career.

Anyone seen the footage of a RICHMOND supporter passing a bag of powder to a player on the boundary line in the celebrations after the game. Player puts it in his sock

Nope but I want to

Who won Richmond's b&f in their 2019 premiership year?
Dion Prestia

How did the Tigers get Prestia?
They missed the "big fish" Treloar the year earlier after Collingwood paid overs in a clear pissing contest. Same Treloar you would have complained about if we didn't win his signature.

What did they pay?
Traded pick 6. Got Prestia and pick 24 back. Same year they got Nank for pick 46. Exactly the player you would moan about us chasing. Same player who just played a great GF and got his 3rd medal.

Know who else they got that year?
Josh Caddy. On his third club and again exactly the player you would moan about us chasing. Underwhelming 2 premiership medals there!

So let's keep bitching about how we aren't linked to the biggest name every year whilst your coveted tigers build a premiership list on rookies and "scraping the barrel" list upgrades.
