Awful challenge by our goalkeeper in last weekend’s Merseyside Derby match. Very fortunate not to be sent off. I wish Virgil a full and speedy recovery!
Good to see you posting Jiggster!
I thought Richarlison was worse although at least he got a red card. It’s a bit of a pattern with Everton now. If the refs aren’t going to do their job, then I’d rather we just played Milner types and not worry about the result.

Yes, Richarlison was suitably punished for a reckless tackle, and he had the good grace to apologise.
I’ll have to “agree to disagree” about “it’s a bit of a pattern with Everton now”.

Leeds beating Aston Vanilla (at Villa Park) was a surprise. I was prepared for the old “well-it-was-good-while-lasted” speech this morning as Villa overtook us at the top of the ladder, and THEN! What a weird season🥴

I started out being in favour of VAR but it’s really become a farce now. I think they should either have VAR specialists, that operate independently of the referee structure or get rid.
Regardless, the off-side rule has become a farce. I think they’d be best served by making it based on the position of the feet. This armpit/sleeve stuff is just silly. Plus if a player is clearly off-side just flag it FFS.

Actually looks like a poorly aged Robbie Fowler.

Erling Haland tho

Haland looks like on old tuck shop lady. Ibrahimovic just looks like he got on the pies. He must be about 50 by now as it is. I thought he was still out to pasture in the US but my son said he's back playing in Italy and going well.

I’m fairly sure you’ll take that game without a lot of trouble.

Reality bit! Big time! No excuses, we played without any kind of skill, commitment or heart and were rightly pantsed! Another Red card too perhaps that “pattern” you mentioned is spot on?

Yeah my post didn’t age well! Results are all over the place. Getting crowds back might make a difference, even with restricted numbers.

Call me an old fashioned old fart, but I really dislike the intervention of video technology in sport. For one thing, it has (in my humble opinion) removed authority from the referee and has resulted in referees “copping out” from taking decisions themselves. This happened in cricket with umpires “going upstairs” for every decision rather than back their own judgement.
There again, I would have LOVED a VAR in the 1977 semi final!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Looking at the Covid-19 figures in the UK, (and Liverpool in particular) I don’t see crowds returning to the games any time soon.

Well done Southampton! My team came off second-best for the second week in a row, against Newcastle United. I’ve enjoyed seeing Everton top the ladder for a few weeks, but I’m realistic enough to know that there simply isn’t enough depth of class in our squad to cover for injury to important players. Liverpool, Manchester City and other top-six clubs have assembled squads that can cope with added fixtures and injury without it effecting results. I have confidence that Don Carlo can assemble such a squad over a couple of transfer windows.
