WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

Made some very ordinary or interesting choices in last years draft especially when there were some pretty good names on the board. Went completely left field

Taheny was a very good choice, given he was expected to go in the Top 30. Evans was the odd one, but SDK and Coop were strong choices too IMO. No idea what Evans will produce, but, even if he doesn't work out, 3 out of 4 would be a very solid return.

agree evans we could of got in the rookie draft if we wanted, i dont think any team even had them on their boards

Ben Brown for pick 33 could be the biggest win of the trade period.

Pick swaps confuse things but looks like Brown effectively traded for pick 30 ish. Either he is completely cooked or that is a terrible trade by North. We've just about paid the same for Higgins :$

I reckon it was just to keep North's female fans happy - they'd have been upset to lose Higgins, but getting rid of Brown as well balances things out.

Something tells me teams have figured him out, and his injury woes are a lot worse than others realize. North didn't need to shed salary, as they might not even meet the minimum. Something else definitely going on there

Yep people might say we paid more for Higgins but based on the years both just had I would take Higgins all day. Brown was woeful and injured most of the time.

Brad Close too

Yep, forgot about Closey. Would have taken him at Pick 41 in a heartbeat.

So if we look at this trade period from what we know so far:

Pick 16 - Cooper Stephens - likely
Pick 19 - SDK - very likely
Pick 41 - Francis Evans - ?
Pick 50 - Cam Taheny - good junior form
Rookie Pick 14 - Brad Close - very likely
Rookie Pick 35 - Hendo - Best 22 lock 2020

That is a very solid draft, and it's just our rookies that we've seen thus far. Could be as good as 2016 if we end up with even 2 out of the 4 from the main draft being 200 game players

We were prepared to take Higgins on for 3 years last year, now it's 2 years this year. Who knows, maybe North are paying some of his salary too. Pick 30 was annoying to give up, but given the absolute class of Higgins - who could play until he's 36+ -, this one doesn't bother me at all. Was just glad we didn't involve any firsts, as all the delusional Norf supporters were suggesting

Probably already been said on here but: Looks like West Coast will get Witherden for a steal, including Brisbane paying a portion of his salary. We should've been all over him. Massive miss by us.

I think it's BS.

Loopholes in this.

I got home about 5 past 3 at 4 trades already done.

They were already rubber stamped.imo.
All teams can still work out deals, can agree to terms.
Have all the paperwork signed and ready to go.

But they can’t lodge it until 3 and be approved by the AFL

So all those trades would’ve been done already this morning and got sent through to the AFL at 3pm
Hence how a few came through by 3:05pm

What happens if he didn't want to come to Geelong though and preferred the option of heading west - haven't seen anything to indicate that he even wanted to return to Victoria let alone Geelong

Has been said multiple times on here already how do you know we didnt try and the offer from West Coast was just better? Not every ex Geelong kid wants to come home and play, we are starting to sound like entitled West Coast nuffies a bit these days.
