Small/medium forwards please

I don’t see much point in drafting a young ruck when you see many moving clubs cheaply come trade time, I feel KPD would be easier to get via free agency or trade as well, but I am not against drafting one.

Agree with this.

The last thing we need is another project ruck. We already have TDK and Pittonet is very durable. With list sizes reducing, two ruckmen on the list is enough if they have a track record of remaining on the park 22 weeks a year.

The fact we have Casboult as a 3rd break glass option is a bonus.

If we're taking three in the draft, a KPD, wing and small forward would be a good mix.

KPD: Waste of time targeting an undersized interceptor. There are no “big boppers” in our draft range. I am convinced we have our eyes on a semi mature / mature target next year to succeed encumbent Jones and his “shadow” Levi.
Wing: Newnes, Walsh, Setterfield, Williamson, O’Brien, Murphy, Williams, Philp, Cottrell, Ramsay, Honey, Kemp even Saad, we have it covered well and truly.
Small Forward: We will take one Winder, Ginnivan, Rowe among a list of possibles.
Ruck: Would be amazed if we do not take a young one Walsh the obvious, Neale, Heath, Lane and a couple of other candidates. TDK and Pitto both decent number ones for the future. Pitto has openly admitted to not having the scope of TDK, with Levi to cover for a year or two it makes sense to have a slow burn kid on minimum chips for 3 or 4 years. with more clubs relying on the trade option, candidates are going to run out soon enough. Our TPP benefits from minimum wage back up. Pitto will be targeted in a couple of years by a desperate club, guaranteed.

I also believe young Joshua Cripps may be a dirt cheap rookie option if we have a spot left over. KPP/Ruck prospect. Made captain of Aquinas before his ACL preseason ahead of some very prominent draft prospects. More likely to wait until he plays next year, but would be well known to our group. Story a while back of Kreuze mentoring him.

Jones is 29. I reckon he could be around for another four or so years, especially if he's taking the 2nd forward. Targeting a KPD now would give them adequate time to develop.

Fair enough if you think the wings are covered.

Still wouldn't go for a pure ruck. Maybe a ruck/forward type like Shannon Neale as a long term replacement for Casboult.

Definitely agree with you on the small forward. Someone with elite speed and agility.

I wonder given our success in rehabilitating Docherty, Setterfield and Kemp's ACLs whether we'd be willing to give Kaine Baldwin a go. He looks a pretty significant talent but coming off two ACLs will probably see him slide down the draft order. He's a key forward by nature but someone with that skill set is usually able to succeed at either end. Having watched his highlights, and given Charlie's issues I'd be willing to give him a go.

My opinion on needs
KPD defender to replace Jones in 2 years time
Small Fwd to replace betts

what do the draft guru's reckon?

KPD definitely, should have been addressed in the trade period if we knew pick 8 was going out the door

Forward/ruck through the draft

Small forward anywhere in the draft, preferably mature age, such as Rowe. Don't be surprised if a familiar blood line is drafted

I agree wholeheartedly with this, but what KPD's were even on the market? Corr? Aliir? Weren't very many options for us unfortunately.

I would hope we enquired about Ballenden or Payne

Aliir would have been perfect given he can play in any arc, as well as a 3rd tall

I hope so too, but with Williams and Saad having to be courted I don't think we had the time or resources to properly convince either of them to give us a look.

I would have loved Aliir too but doubt the club would have paid the price for him.

We had the draft capital, perhaps not the coin

I think you are referring to a certain Sydney players` little brother perhaps......... By the way Arrow, is it true that clubs do not have to take at least 3 picks in this draft, because another bluebagger on here before said that we can only take 1 pick if we want.........just wondering about that info.
