Yes, his forward craft. Pykie has previously compared him with R.Gray/ Stevie J.

He will invariably get Rayner/Petracca comparisons, but he is a different player to those.

He 'may' of mimicked Petracca in his top age year if he wasn't injured and got a full season in the midfield in the NAB League this year like the intention.

However, he's a little different to those two, he's got the same power as Rayner/Petracca, plays more of half forward Rayner style role at the moment, but has ALOT more forward craft tricks than either of those two.

I see a little bit of Stevie J/Robbie Grey mixed in with the physique of guys like Rayner/Petracca.

Trading of picks would influence his phantom draft, it is partly rating the talent and partly which clubs he thinks will take players where, there have also been combine results which would likely impact. He has been fairly accurate in terms of top 10 and to a lesser extent first round phantom drafts the last few years. That Age reporter was another who was accurate before she went to work with GWS as a talent scout.

So had a look at Cal's list and thinking about the possible trade scenarios. Not knowing a lot about the draft class, wondering thoughts on the following:

1. Keep Pick 2, draft McDonald or Hollands;

Following would only work if McDonald is there I would think:

2. Trade Pick 2 for GC Pick 5 and 2021 1st Rd (pick3-6?) - take Philips with 5, but not sure on Thillthorpe so if he is taken at 1, happy to proceed;

3. Trade Pick 2 plus either 2nd Rd or 11 for Ess 6,7,8
- Bruhn (midfield skill)
- Perkins (X-Factor mid/forward)
- Reid/Cox (KP defender)

Question is always if the sum is greater than the one.

Profile: Leading the goalkicking for much of the year in the WAFL, McDonald secured a position in the WAFL Team of the Year. Combine his performances on the board with his meteoric rate of improvement and McDonald has the scope to become one of the premier key forwards in the competition.

Height, Weight: 184cm, 75kg
Profile: Younger brother of Western Bulldogs star Jack Macrae, Finlay plays stylistically a near identical game with the main difference being that he's not as tall. A classy midfielder, he displays rare evasion and composure with ball in hand while possessing the capacity to play either inside or outside.

Height, Weight: 187cm, 78kg
Profile: Ball-winning midfielder who does his best work inside. Trew is a strong midfielder who wins contested ball, demonstrates composure in traffic, dishes out effectively by hand and is a strong tackler.

Height, Weight: 184cm, 70kg
Profile: A former junior Australian steeplechase champion, Sharp smashed the AFL Draft Combine 2km time trial record with a 5:28. With a December birthday, Sharp is a young endurance beast who is hoping to develop on a wing and has earned praise for his work ethic and professionalism.

Gives Brady & Co. heaps of opportunity to package picks to get more value in the teens/early 20s.

Out of interest, in this scenario, GC leaves the draft after taking McDonald/Hollands at 2. Port & Collingwood's draft hand will be knocked about by possible bids for the NGA picks in the teens/20s...After pick 40, how many teams will be left in the draft game?

The AFL has scrapped the idea of a second trade period this year.

The AFL floated the idea of an extra brief trade window after acknowledging that clubs had ended the player-exchange period without a definitive decision on how many players they can have on a list next year nor how much they can pay them.

“We had a serious look at it but the feedback from clubs, the AFLPA, was that it was unnecessary,” AFL executive Andrew Dillon said.

The surprising idea met with a mixed reaction from players, clubs and player agents. Some were very enthusiastic but most clubs believed they could manage their lists now without an extra chance to trade.

Some clubs felt it was unfair not to have had forewarning during the trade period that there could be a second opportunity to trade. They felt it might have affected decisions made under time pressure of last week’s trade window had they known there was a second chance to trade open to them.

An announcement on the salary cap is expected either late this week or early next week. The AFL has consequently delayed by a week the first list lodgement by clubs to the AFL that was due to have been this Friday.

The list lodgement includes salary cap projections for next year so it would have been futile to request salary cap projections days before a revised salary cap and list size is confirmed.

I tend to agree. But we do need more genuine mids on our list. We have a lot of flanker types. Some more ball gatherers is a must.
Although mccrea was a flanker in his under year this year he would have been a genuine mid. I wouldn't say no
