Talks that the Australian open will be delayed until April
If os open later than ball kids might not be avaiable
Scheduling will be an issueWhat is the difference between Jan and April I don't get it ?
At the end of the day it's the Government's prerogative whether to allow players into Australia and it's not helped by states having different rules - Tennis is still going on in bubbles which have been organised by medico's and which are trusted by many countries in the world - To fill in the calendar there have been pop up tournaments set up in Kazakhstan and next month in Dubai so there are opportunities - The most practical time to play a rescheduled Aussie Open is in October of if there is no tournament TA will lose hundreds of millions of dollars - It's strange that other countries will accept bubbles and there have been no documented cases of tennis players spreading COVID.
Should move the AO to Sydney, Glady's is a lot more reasonable, sensible and open minded with these things.
Think the players have been very patient and understanding of the reasons for this delay. Even the joker, who has a bad track record with Covid, has been good and the requests they have made are not unreasonable. etc need a warm tournament.
and of course, Nadal being Nadal is the star (#love it when he says no at the end of the sentence)
the issue is the fact that the other countries have thousands of active cases.how can countries that have hundreds of thousands of active cases hold tournaments but stupid australia which have no cases not host a tournament
the issue is the fact that the other countries have thousands of active cases.
Our border is shut and has limits to how many people we allow into our continent. Tennis Australia needs to find a government willing and able to quarantine for 1500 players and staff and prevent any spread onto us.
Once here, everything will be fine and small crowds should be allowed into Melbourne Park. probably 25% but perhaps up to even 50%
Can Sydney host the 2021 AO though ? As you said it seems like they're willing to take people in.
You could pretty much have to split the tournament between Brisbane and Sydney to match the number of hardcourts available at Melbourne Park.Does anyone other than Melbourne have enough courts at the one venue for a grand slam? Or if you were moving it would you have to play the men's in Sydney and the women's in Brisbane or something.

"
AO Update: My understanding is that the international players will be able to quarantine from Jan 7-21 supervised by Victoria Police & will be able to practice but not compete.
Jan 25 or Feb 1 start to be confirmed, & decision still to be made on Qualies & lead in tournament/s"
