Competitions 2020 Carlton Board Phantom Draft

Think he has become one of my favorite draftees. Has great natural aggression, wonderful leap and if he does grow another inch, I would have him top 10
I think he is the player thats probably been effected most from this years covid lockdown of the league , He has all the tools to play mid/fwd and looks like he was primed to have a really big year and show what he could do. Whilst i love to get Carroll at Richmond if Ford is now 192cm i think he would be the priority and hope the Tiger recruiters also see it this way.

where did you hear the 192 from

I'll bid here on someone who I think outside JUH could be the best kid to come out of this draft who is tied to an academy.

GWS don't really need him but I had strongly considered putting a bid in at my last pick and think now Fremantle are getting off very lightly.

So I'll bid on him to keep the bastards honest.

Fremantle have two NGA boys projected to go in this range with most showing a slight preference towards Brandon Walker but it is actually the other who I think is the better talent.

And on talent I think he's every bit a first round consideration.

At pick 32 GWS puts in a bid for Joel Western.

TENACIOUS your response, please.
How many bloody picks do GWS have :cryv1: first Cox now a damn bid.

Personally I don't want to match as a midget midfielder is not what Fremantle need at all...
But if we are doing this seriously I know they would match.

So reluctantly I will match

Jeremias back to you

At pick 33 I'll continue my boom or bust draft haul for the Giants.

There is a clear need for another key forward IMO. Jeremy Cameron's departure leaves just 4 on the list currently:

1) Ricciardi. Coming into his second season and looks very good.
2) Hogan. A complete head case.
3) Himmelberg. A serviceable footballer but he'll never be any more than that.
4) Finlayson. A complete and utter crab.

With that in mind I'll bring in another tall who is very raw but a freak athletically and a pretty exciting prospect.

Not sure he'll end up forward - he's a good enough runner to play on a wing, and he's come from a soccer background where he played behind the ball - but with enough talls capable of playing senior footy in the short term I think they afford to give him the time required to find his feet and lock down a position.

Pick 33 - GWS - Liam Kolar

Up next is Coona Blues with North Melbourne.

Wow early but good pick

Tigers are apparently looking at him in the first round.
Yeah that Matt Bulmer (aka Bishop on bigfooty)
but i dont think it will be with our 1st rounder but very happy with #36 if that eventuates , Kolar has a bit of Noah Balta about him with his size and athleticism
Great athlete

North have a few spots, particularly depth/developing to bolster in this current period. While the midfield is in need of attention, tall forwards are at a premium.
Additionally ruck depth for post Goldstein and his insurance Campbell, is limited to Xerri and Comben who is forward first and likely no more than a pinch hitter in the ruck. For this reason, while considering a stand alone KPF with upside who shall remain nameless, North Melbourne select

Pick 34 - NM - Shannon Neale

More attracted this high for his forward credentials, Neale projects as a genuine 50/50 ruck forward, which should complement the developing Xerri quite well.
While still very raw, Neale sits in the upper levels of this draft class for speed, endurance and athleticism. His vertical leap for such a big man is a weapon so
possesses largely untapped upside either in the ruck or as a hard working, hard running forward target. I bypassed the genuine key forwards at the top of the
draft in favour of the talents of Hollands and am pleased a suitable option is available this far in to the draft. Subscribing to the SOS list build method of acquiring talls before concentrating on the midfielders. (Although bank on the Kangas attempting to make Josh Kelly the richest player in the game next year)

Next up the Blues first pick with The Dominator7

And on the 4th day of the draft, at pick #35 Carlton bid on Richmond father son prospect Maurice Rioli Jnr.

Why? - other than KPD this is a position of need as a small fwd who plays close to goal - his elite traits of pressure, tackling, speed, agility and goal nous as a genuine small fwd are something we simply don’t have on the list.

I think Richmond will get a steal in the real dance, no-one talking about him as just a given he ends up there

Happy to take him at 35 on a talent and needs basis and hand him over to Eddie school to soak it up

What say you Wickzki ?

I hope we do this next week.

In order for Wickzki to match, 36 and 92 become 35 and 58.

I was desperate for him to get through to the Doggies :p

Glad to see someone else willing to jump on him relatively early. Reckon he's the best ruck/forward in it.

THE_GUN suggested after pick 36. This is pick 35. There's no way Richmond wont match in my opinion so I'll go for the match.

Sorry The Dominator7 back to you. Sorry for taking a while - was at a specialist.

....having assumed the Wickster matches, at Pick #36 Carlton bids on Essendon NGA player Cody Brand

Why? - again this is a case of needs matching talent, and IMO he’s the best of the remaining KPD’s available and would likely have attracted more interest in an open draft. We’re in a toughish spot this year for KPD’s with some nice ones early, some raw ones late, and others like Highmore (another projected around this mark) in the 192-3cm undersized region.

Good hands, good stopper, good competitor and hoping to add some production as he develops

If I can’t get a pure KPD here I’m looking at utilities or later in the draft/rookie - in all likelihood in we get a DFA for coverage next year too.

What say you Sin City ?
