Ellis even said it himself on a podcast apparently all games weren’t filmed and clubs did stats themselves, one day he had 30s kick but power were adding the kicks out from behindsi wonder if coaches are honest about their players, i guess some are, but i would guess most tow the club line that all of their players are amazing so that their club has more AFL recruits, theres a lot of bias and vested interest in only talking positively about prospects, im sure AFL clubs have to use intuition and a lot of research behind the scenes to get real info about prospects.
an example was back in 2005 draft, Hawthorn took Xavier Ellisat pick 3, apparently a lot of people behind the scenes knew he was lazy and didnt like to train ect ect, but they all said Hawthorn never contacted them, be it teachers or local club coaches ect and he turned out to be very disappointing (im sure his TAC Cup head coach said he was a great kid that trains the house down), things have changed, but maybe not as much as you think from 15 years ago? thats why there are top 10 busts every now and then, clubs lack of due diligence can be a factor sometimes.PLAYERCARDSTARTXavier Ellis

Cpuld get away with a lot more 15-20 years ago, guess that’s why there were a lot of busts in the top 30im pretty sure they still count kicks out from behinds, thats why some half backs have 30 touches.Ellis even said it himself on a podcast apparently all games weren’t filmed and clubs did stats themselves, one day he had 30 kick but power were adding the kicks out from behinds![]()
Not if you didn’t play on they weren’t counted as stats.im pretty sure they still count kicks out from behinds, thats why some half backs have 30 touches.
I'm fully on board the Hollands at #1 train. Get the best player at the top, then target Thilthorpe in a trade up.
If Phillips and Grainger-Barras are off the board, Gold Coast should try to get a future pick out of Adelaide to swap 5 and 9. Suns can pick up Bruhn or Powell, or alternatively take whoever of Reid, Cox and Chapman is still available. Everyone wins, except Essendon.

I agree with you , GCS list management staff is the most incompetent and lazy in AFL . Their job is to pick top 20 pick and GCS academy players and get useless players like Murdoch and Atkins to boost their super .Get a future pick from Adelaide (our 2nd round?) and a swap of Pick 5 & 9? The AFL have created a massive distortion in the concessions for GC in that they already have pick 19 (start of 2nd round) in 2021
If you were GC, why would you do it? What's another 2nd rounder worth to them? They've spent 2 years throwing away picks to Geelong... They have coughed up Pick 12 in terms of points, for literally nothing.

Plenty of optionsThe Essendon picks are fascinating.
The late mail seems to be that a few curve balls are in the mix (which was always going to be with this draft) here with maybe Henry, Stone, Bruhn.
Powell/Macrae/Stone a chance at Adelaide at #9 also. A McInnes bid likely here with Adelaide or even at Essendons picks.
Twomey seems to think Cox/Reid go to Essendon/GWS.
Perkins is a chance to get to #11.
sounds like scuttlebutt on our end.The Essendon picks are fascinating.

I was there watching the metro groups go round and he trained pretty strongly, was watching his kicking which can be inconsistent at times. He was in ripping nick, wouldve loved to see him play midfield this year at that size.Did Eddie Ford look sharp in the training? Will be an interesting prospect to follow
Draftable now or wait and see?Nope

Im not sure didnt really think about it, he looks strong through the legs which stood out. He's a tall 189 and while perkins is moreorless the same height, ford looks bigger than him.He is listed at 189cm just with your naked eye did he look taller or about that height
I can't agree more trade 27 and 37 out for multiple pick like other for Alex Davies and Jefferey .Why aren’t goldcoast paying for Davies and Jeffrey through the draft proper like everyone else does? Instead they are passing on pick 27 for virtually nothing. Twice now Geelong have got ridiculous deals from GC in pick swaps. Both as a direct result of the over the top concessions handed to GC already by the AFL. The competition integrity would have been far better off if GC had to use pick 27 on Alex Davies instead of them handing to one of the strongest sides in the league for a likely pick in the 50s next season.

They want their northern states teams looked after doubt that they look after they’re pet teams GWS and Gold Coasti think the AFL are making up for giving GWS seemingly around 50% more in draft value and pre-listing when they both started so they're helping them out seeing as they as a club have kindve stalled, its unfair, but they were a rabble when starting and then had to rebuild at the end of 2018, i think the AFL thought they needed a boost for a few years to get back on track and of course they want their northern teams looked after, cant have them failing in a growing market i guess?
