Would literally never happen that quickly. UEFA would have investigated and then had dialogue with both clubs. An hour or two delay was always on the cards.

The referee is in charge for the game, not the two teams or suits at UEFA HO.

Once it was established what happened he should have taken charge and ejected the 4th official from the stadium and continued on with the game. The referee has the authority to do that but let things escalate instead which seems incredibly stupid.
