50 odd goals in an ordinary side is reasonable, dont you think? Chardy is nicknamed the Markologist for good reason, his record in an A grade game is 21 marks. Regularly took 15 to 18 per game when on song.
I wouldn't put too much into State games, he was a reluctant participant as he doesnt have much time for ego maniacs who run around at that level refusing to pass to anyone.

Has Chard commissioned you for his memoirs, Brian? :D

Hey I just remembered the Dean-Jonns name ... for some reason it just keeps nagging at me ... any chance he played juniors for a Fitzroy junior club?

Gabe is from Old Trinity. Very good player. Beranger is ex Old Scotch Captain who has jumped ship. Ryan Chard was at Skevs last year. Great player. In a better side could have kicked 80 plus.
If these three, plus Loats and Tallis are all playing, stay fit, then they would definately be 5 of the best C-Section has to offer.

Maybe the guy who keeps saying "be afraid" could be on the money.

DG .Tristan Beranger has not 'jumped ship' he is simply returning to his club of preference. He was dvc in unders flag 1999 and captained 2000 under 19 premiership team.In 2001 (with scotch seniors out of the running) he was runner for OC's unders during their successful finals campaign of that year.He loves OC having gone to school there. With his old coach back on board it was a 'monty' he'd return to the fold.Same for 'Bay' and 3 or 4 others from O/S.

Brian ,let me do the spruiking for OC.You are just pumping us up so that if we are successful you can say PO had little infulence(team too good) or ,horrorof horrors, no finals for OC ,you can continue your vitriolic attacks on the coach.

and DG ...I am right (been around the section for 6 years now)..be afraid ,,,very afraid.

p.s let us all hope for a break to this drought or we will not get the chance to see how clever we are, lol.

Zoo, thanks for your message re Paul. Believe it or not, Paul and I used to be best mates. He is a fantastic recruiter and has an excellent coaching record, which I am sure he reminds you of whenever he speaks to you. I have written some pretty ordinary things about him on this site, all of which I retract after finding out tonight that the person (s) whom I thought was Paul and has been hassling me for 2 years through private messages and posts is in fact someone else.
I would like to go to a few of your games but wont as there is probably a contract on me. Perhaps you guys can now put that contract onto someone who resides north of our border.
I dont need to pump OCs tyres up because you do it whenever you can, I just hope that you dont lose a first semi this year.
6 years in C is nothing to be proud of, and please stop the afraid c r a p, does you no favours at all. Just get out of C.

Brian ,you are more than welcome at any of our games and I'm heartened about your comments re: our current coach.Agree ,this our 6th year, is a long time in one section, but there are many reasons for that.Lack of depth the main one.And no we don't have a contract out on you.Allour guns are playing.

Yes mate it crossed my mind too :) But no, no, ****ing no ... I have seen that actual name somewhere. And I'm no ammo afficionado, so it won't have been from the VAFA.

Let's not lose sight of what we were talking about, the Reds Captaincy.

Vinnie will not be around and clearly TD is the man.

Let's just wait and see if all the OC recruits actually materialize as the names aren't coming from anyone inside their camp.

Anyway, they will need them to beat the Reds!!

Top four, in case you missed it
REDS
Friars
Carey
Mazenod

Final four no particular order

Friars
Vultures
Loats team
maybe Carey

bye bye
Monash
rupo

never mind writing off the Vulture, beware the Rupo that goes unwatched.
if you expect them to drop they'll make the top four.
imo South Mornington are more likely to play A Grade by 2020 than Rupo are to be back in D Grade in 2008.

If I can guarantee you one thing every year. Reds have the most spruikers on bigfooty. And if you listen to them they have the premiership in the bag but come the real season their heart packs it in, the rain comes and handbags come out. If Rupo couldn't get within 10 goals of Old Carey last year don't expect to come to C Grade and finish in the finals. You would want to have a solid team to stop the Loats machine at Balwyn, cause noone could last year (can't wait for the inbred Campberwell suppoorters to fall out of the trees and kiss Loats arse again). Finally the GuruJoffa tells you one thing each season and don't forget it. Never ever write of the THE VULTURE.

Final four no particular order

Friars
Vultures
Loats team
maybe Carey

bye bye
Monash
rupo

.........................................................................................................................................

1st Never write off Rupo, that is unless you want to inspire them

2nd Friars and Vultures like Carey are keeping very low key, unlike our friends from the Reds who talk alot, they (reds) better start the year off very well or they will loose all respect
3rd. No one will ever consider oldcamb a threat. They have been stuck in C grade for so long for one reason. They are soft, mentally. Never has there been a bigger bunch of girls with potential but no strong minds down there to drive them. No matter how strong there list is there soft culture will retart them from ever going up the grades. they know it, we all know it, just how it is!

who have old carey lost and who have they picked up? keepiing a low profile is one thing but surely some people know who may be linked to them. old camberwell will go allright if the commitment from the "name" players is there... that is if the name players are indeed playing.

can anyone post last seasons ladder positions before the finals, cant find it on the ammo website, thank you.

2. AJAX (promoted)
3. Ormond (lost 1st semi)
4. Parkdale (lost prelim)

5. Old Camberwell (missed by 1 game)
(daylight)
6. Monash
7. Reds
8. NOBSPC
9. Hampton Rovers
10. Old Paradians

Can anyone shed light on who'Brian Speaking" is. Obviously some affiliation with SKOBS and he has mentioned that many know his identity like the great scribe Frase. Only difference is Scribe doesnt post crap, apart from his 2006 Grand Final Review of course, but weve moved on from that

Plenty of talk about Camberwell and how they've managed to recruit their players.... Could it be that they've just managed to get a successful and driven president and board that has decided to work at building the club? Or are people going to tell us how they know they're "paying players". If its just a few of you carrying a chip on your shoulders then give it a rest

Phew - thank you.

16 days to go to the first praccy match!!!

BTW - I had a chance to ask around upstairs at the VAFA on Saturday (during a break in the Level 1 coaching course) and was informed that the VAFA will be inspecting most of the questionable grounds on 19/3 and 26/3 (i.e. after most 1st and 2nd practice matches).

Apparently we're pretty lucky in that the vast majority of our grounds (i.e. 80% +) have either got bore water facilities or school dispensation from water restrictions. For the other 20%, these will be the ones targeted on those Monday inspections.

Sounds like the VAFA are very keen for the whole competition to commence on time and will give every club/ground the chance to soak up whatever rain falls in March before making an assessment on the season start. Winter grass should sprout up pretty quickly if this does occur.

It may simply mean that some of the fixturing has to be 'tweaked' to have the clubs with the better grounds hosting in the first few weeks for the sake of player welfare. Anything which enables the season to start for all clubs/teams is fine by me.

Yeah wasnt me who wrote that overtheline, just heard about it then.... i only post on carlton and sc sites. Plenty of people knew my password though.

Chardy will dominate C grade next yr! Been a skevs boy rather him dominate B, but what can you do!

I think you will find that naming people who post on this or any other site is against the spirit of what we do. Brian Speaking has been banned for a very long time, so move on.
Of course if you want to reveal your real identity, phone number and such then go ahead.

Which leads to an interesting dilemma - from the centre clearance, do you concentrate on kicking to a goal square contest with two or four players, or get it to a half forward who can kick straight from 55 out?

I suppose for teams with the luxury of both gun FF and CHF players, you can afford to try one approach and swap to the other if the defence is getting in the way. But a lot of teams rely on one or the other and can get shut down, which we've seen a lot last year.

Curious.

Hmmm! Seems like we may as well call the season off cos it looks like Camberwell has the flag all wrapped up.:)

Dont believe all of the hype re Camberwell just yet. I am surprised not much has been said of John Barker's signing with North Old Boys St Patricks College Ballarat Old Boys Football Club incorporated.
Will the big man be boom or bust?
