Our 2017 team played our best brand of football, so they make up most of the team.

F: Betts, Jenkins, Porplyzia
R: Jacobs, Thompson, B Crouch
I: Otten, M Crouch, Milera, Cameron

I didn't consider those who only played a couple of seasons.

Given we only made finals 4 times he should be. Says more about us than him.

Not really being able to argue against VB's inclusion says it all. His final 2 years were straight up awful, injured the year before and bog average the years leading to that. And yet it's hard to argue against his inclusion.

Doedee - i did consider Lever, but his exit swayed me.
Mackay - how many match winning games? No thanks.
Vince - i considered, but only played 3 seasons in the decade at the Crows.
Atkins- i value someone who tackles when needed.
Porplyzia - Was on our list for 1st 4 years of the decade. Could make a case of swapping for Vince.
Callinan - only 3 seasons. If going to bring in another small forward type, I would pick Wright.

Thompson & VB are named in my side.

Tippett only played 2 seasons in the last decade at Adelaide & JJ's career was far greater.

Doedee has not played enough but will be a future captain. The jury has to be out on Milera..

19/22 pretty much pick themselves. Then you're basically just going on preference for the last 3 spots. Some standouts who were only here for a couple years, some long lifers who have just been solid, some inbetweeners.
Short stayers: Tippett, Lever, Doedee, O'Brien, Porplyzia, Cameron, Vince, Johncock, Gibbs
Long lifers: Hartigan, Atkins, Wright, Kelly
Inbetweeners: Reilly, Henderson, Milera

You're really whinging that they do a 'team of the decade' once at the end of each decade?
Considering our first year was also at the start of a decade, there's really no argument for it to not happen at the end of the xxx0 year.

Most of these are fairly self explanatory. The final two bench spots were difficult.

Tippett gets in as he is, as far as I can tell, the 7th highest goal kicker for us in the decade, just edging out Mitch McGovern

(70 vs 67 goals). He also had a very strong goal average in the two years he played. He easily gets in over Porplyzia whose best years were in the previous decade.

For the defensive bench spot I put Reilly over Mackay due to his superior record and AA squad in 2012. We should have been good enough that neither are even in remote consideration for a best team of the decade. We weren't.

Lever gets a backline spot over Doedee and Hartigan as he was the better player. Doedee not enough games.

If we're considering players like Milera and Otten for the team then Vince has to be in consideration and easily makes it as he was better. Very solid 58 games for us in that period

Brad belongs nowhere near the other team. He gave everything when on the ground and it was only injury that caused us grief.

There are too many teams not enough talent.
Id like to see all teams like this, so I can judge how s**t we’ve really been.

Was in the leadership group from memory. I wonder whether his toxicity extended to the larger playing group or whether it was just admin and a couple of other leaders.

I remeber the circa 2010/2011 teams under the twilight days of Craig... the absolute EPITIOME of mediocre. Real honest, vanilla, B grade players like VB, Douglas, Reilly, Mackay, Sellar, Henderson etc running around.
